The Writers Workshop Collection consists of primarily of photographs taken by James S. Peck. Mr. Peck was formerly the Director of Public Relations for the Graduate School of Management (today the Simon Graduate School of Business). He had also handled public relations and promotional activities for Dean Robert Koch of the University School, which included both the Writers Workshop and the University Summer Theater. The collection also contains the annual flyers or programs for most of the years of the series.

The collection documents the history of the YWCA of Albany, which was founded in 1888 by a group of women led by Mrs. Acors Rathbun in order to provide housing and recreational activities for young women searching for work. Through the years, the organization expanded to include classes, childcare, athletics, essay contests, teen issue programs, and an annual awards dinner honoring women. Strengths include the extensive photographic material and meeting minutes from the board of trustees and directors. The collection is weakest at the beginning and end of the YWCA of Albany's existence.

Mikhashoff, Yvar
The collection contains 423 indexed images and approximately 350 additional, un-indexed snapshots. The images include publicity shots, professional photographs and snapshots of Mikhashoff in rehearsal and performance, and snapshots from some of Mikhashoff's travels. Other people included in the images include noteworthy performers and composers, such as Aaron Copland, Virgil Thomson, Sylvano Bussotti, Henri Dutilleux, Giacinto Scelsi, Toru Takemitsu, Frederic Rzewski, Luis de Pablo, Henry Brant, John Cage, Milton Babbitt, Conlon Nancarrow, Nils Vigeland, and Poul Ruders.

Carr, Zack
After graduating from Parsons School of Design Fashion Design Department in 1973, Zack Carr (1945-2000) worked for B. Altman, Donald Brooks and, most importantly, as creative director for Calvin Klein. In 1984, Carr started his own line, the Zack Carr Collection, before rejoining Calvin Klein in 1987. The papers consist of items produced and compiled between 1969 and 2000, including idea books, photographs, clippings, student work, and sketches.

Zhang, Fakui, 1896-1980
The Zhang Fakui papers emphasize General Zhang's military career as a Chinese Nationalist General during the important years of the Sino-Japanese War. The bulk of the papers consist of documents and maps relating to the history of the Fourth War Zone which he commanded during the Sino-Japanese War dating from 1940 to 1947. Also included are documents related to the governance and development of the Hainan dating from 1939 to 1949. Materials include correspondence, documents, maps, photographs, reports, manuscripts, and diaries.
