This series contains a small selection of program files, project proposals and correspondence from the Demographic Division and the Technical Assistance Division. The majority of the series documents summer programs in the early 1970s.
This series documents the family planning program activities and administrative operations of the Tunisia and Ceylon Population Council Regional Offices. The Offices were supported through grants provided by the Ford Foundation. They generally focused on collecting statistics related to acceptance and use of contraceptives and family planning services by local populations, projecting population trends, supporting national family planning programs like l'Office National du Planning Familial et de la Population(National Office of Family Planning and Population) in Tunisia and the Family Planning Bureau in Ceylon (present day Sri Lanka), conducting family planning related research, providing and participating in family planning education programs and services, and collaborating on family planning projects with international agencies like the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Swedish International Development Authority (SIDA), the World Bank, and various United Nations organizations.
Records document the Population Council's International Programs (IP), and an earlier incarnation - the Technical Assistance Division, primarily focusing in the areas of the Infant Feeding Study and Lippes Loops. Records include but are not limited to: program files and reviews, proposals, reports, surveys, site visits, field reports, articles, field staff correspondence, general administrative records, and a small selection of donor files.
This series contains copies of dockets, agendas and meeting materials given to, or prepared for, John D. Rockefeller 3rd and other officers of the Population Council including Donald H. McLean, Jr. and Ray Lamontagne. The records include meetings of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, Annual Meeting of the Members, and select conference proceedings and reports.
The Karen Morrell Fundraising files are comprised of correspondence and memos with reports and other supportive background documentation.
The Lapham and Van Wie files include field staff files from the Research and Evaluation Unit of the Population Council. Major topics include the evaluation of field programs, Gavin and Jones - Indonesia correspondence, records of the Taylor-Berelson Maternal and Child Health-Family Planning (MCH/FP) program, and research on fertility projection research.
The Miscellaneous Files document a wide variety of subject matter and file types including but not limited to meeting records, lectures, receptions and events, real estate files, planning and proposal documents, field staff and trip files. There is also a small selection of Taiwan files including correspondence and reports.
