The papers of John D. Rockefeller 3rd (1906-1978), document Rockefeller's life and philanthropic activities. They provide information on his education; relationships with family, friends, and business associates; travels; and social concerns, including his lifelong involvement in four major areas: population, Asia, philanthropy, and the arts. The records document his concern for the projects and institutions he initiated and developed.

The Joan Dunlop papers document her work as serving as an associate in the office of the Rockefeller Family and Associates from 1971-1979. This is not a collection of her personal papers.

This series contains copies of dockets, agendas and meeting materials given to, or prepared for, John D. Rockefeller 3rd and other officers of the Population Council including Donald H. McLean, Jr. and Ray Lamontagne. The records include meetings of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, Annual Meeting of the Members, and select conference proceedings and reports.
