The Scenic Hudson, Inc. Administrative History Collection documents the development of the environmental group from their landmark achievement of preserving historic Storm King Mountain to their present day efforts of protecting and preserving the environmental integrity and beauty of the Hudson River and its surrounding areas. The collection consists of administrative records and files, newspaper clippings, still photographs, correspondence, Scenic Hudson News and Annual Reports, legal materials, agenda and minutes of meetings, as well as a variety of other printed materials. Also included in the collection are files dealing with such topics as dredging, air pollution, Danskammer, the Marcy-South transmission lines, as well as a variety of other subjects.

The Hudson River Conservation Society was founded in 1936 in order to preserve and protect scenic and historic landmarks in the Hudson Valley and seek regulation when necessary to achieve this. The Hudson River Conservation Society Collection documents the history and continued efforts of the Society as a non-profit agency, fighting for the conservation and protection of the Hudson River, its surroundings, and its environment. The Hudson River Conservation Society collection consists of correspondence, office records, reports, memoranda, newsletters, brochures, maps, newspaper clippings, press releases, opinion polls, financial records, scrapbooks, photographs, books, and other printed material.

Mildred F. Taylor was a Republican politican from Lyons, Wayne County, New York. Taylor was a delegate to the Republican National Convention from New York in 1940, 1948, 1952 (alternate),and 1960; the chairman of the Wayne County Republican Committee, 1943-1956; and a member of the Assembly of the New York State Legislature, 1946-1960. This collection documents her vast political experiences, including her work on the Joint Lesiglative Committee on Historic Sites.

This collection consists of serials, papers of the Corn Hill neighborhood historian and blueprints of buildings in the Corn Hill neighborhood of Rochester, New York. Materials in the collection date between 1843 and 2021. The collection was donated to the Rochester Public Library by the estate of James DeVinney in 2021.

As advocates of the environment and members of Scenic Hudson, Inc., founded in 1963, Senator and Mrs. Seymour dedicated their time and efforts to the preservation of Storm King Mountain, directly confronting the Consolidated Edison Company’s proposed pumped storage facility at Storm King Mountain, near Cornwall, New York. The records consist of correspondence, clippings, legal documents, agenda and minutes of meetings, memoranda, studies, reports, publicity materials, printed matter, and maps.

James Grote Van Derpool papers, 1944-1974, bulk 1962-1966

This collection documents, though partially, the professional life of architectural and art historian, librarian, and preservationist James Grote Van Derpool (1903-1979). Generally, this collection contains correspondence, office files, printed materials, photographs, slides, literary productions, and legal documents. A large portion of this collection consists of papers that reflect the activities of Van Derpool as "defender of the architectural treasures," including records and papers relating to research done for the National Parks Service. Also in the collection are records of lectures on the history of American architecture given at educational institutions, clubs, societies, business organizations, and religious and cultural group meetings. There are also papers relating to Van Derpool's research on the history of Avery Library at Columbia University and the life and work of Italian architect Leon Battista Alberti. Additionally, there is a group of records of the Advisory Committee of the University of Illinois for the time period when Van Derpool was chairman. Van Derpool's book collection was incorporated into the permanent collection of Avery Library after his death.

Church in Cazenovia, New York; floorplans from an unidentified building; and various estate records.
