Members of the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA) gather in the Woodhull Auditorium of the Setauket Junior-Senior High School to celebate the centennial of the Long Island Historical Society. Smits, curator of the Nassau County Historical Museum. Smits discusses how urbanization is destroying historic Long Island.
People gather to celebrate Ward Melville's 50th year with the Melville Shoe Corporation. Reverend John P. Mitton of the Caroline Church of Brookhaven is introduced, speaks and gives the invocation.
