The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, a photograph, and printed material, primarily from the period 1941-1957. Included are letters from Ivan Bunin, Marc Chagall, Mikhail Karpovich, Vasiliĭ Maklakov, W. Somerset Maugham, Vladimir Nabokov, Ili︠́a︡ Repin, Edmund Wilson, Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev and many others. Manuscripts of his works include "Istoki""Nachalo kont︠s︡a""Zhivi, kak khochesh"́, and "The Escape" (English translation of "Begstvo"), such shorter tales as "Noch ́v terminale""Povest ́o smerti", and "Ulḿskai︠a︡ noch"́, as well as numerous articles, book reviews and essays. There are financial records for "Novyĭ Zhurnal", which Aldanov helped found, and the clippings are mainly articles about Aldanov. There is one late photograph of Aldanov.

Four manuscripts and one letter by Alekseev. Three of the manuscripts are in a series entitled "Zhivye vstrechi" and are character sketches of Ivan Bunin, Daniil Ratgauz, and Boris Lazarevskiĭ.

Letters received by A. V. Bakhrakh which discuss 20th century Russian literature, contemporary Slavic studies, and Russian emigre publishing activities. Correspondents include Andrei Belyi (Boris Bugaev), Ivan Bunin, Kornei Chukovskii, Andre Gide and Boris Pilniak. There are over 300 letters by Gleb Struve wtitten from 1964 to 1983, which cover the above topics as well as Struve's personal and professional life. There are both letters and manuscripts by Vladislav Khodasevich, Aleksei Remizov and Marina Tsvetaeva.

The papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, original art works, bibliographic notes and material on exhibitions. There are letters from Aleksandr Benois, Mikhail Chekhov, Fedor Komissarzhevskiĭ, Georgiĭ Lukomskiĭ, Nikolaĭ Medtner, Vladimir Nabokov and Aleksandra Tolstai︠a︡, and one letter each from Ivan Bunin, Mikhail Fokin, Tyrone Guthrie, Sok Hurok and Serge Kusevit︠s︡kiĭ. The manuscripts include essays by Dobuzhinskiĭ on such topics as the Mir Iskusstva group, Pushkin's illustrations, Aleksandr Blok, Kuzḿa Petrov-Vodkin and Josʹe-Maria Sert. There are original art works (pen and ink, goache, etc.) relating to his artistic and theatrical productions. Also included are photographs of Russian scenes, apparently from before World War I.

Most of the letters, which comprise the bulk of the collection, were written to Chekver in the late 1940s and 1950s by such emigre writers as David Knut, Aleksei Remizov, and Iurii Terapiano. Also included are verses by some of Chekver's correspondents (such as Knut, Igorʹ Chinov, and Vasilii Sumbatov), photographs of Knut, and books of verses by Chekver and Iurii Trubetskoi.

The collection consists mostly of his original drawings for Russian periodicals, including "Odesskiĭ listok" Odesskie novosti" "Ruĺ" and "Vozrozhdenie" and also for various French titles. There is also correspondence, including single letters from such emigre figures as Ivan Bunin and Pavel Mili︠u︡kov; a manuscript of Nadezhda Teffi's "Nichego Podobnogo" with Drizo's drawings of its characters; and copies of two books illustrated by Drizo: MAD"Tak bylo" (Odessa, 1918), and S. Chernyĭ"Zhivai︠a︡ azbuka" (Berlin, 1922) (the original drawings for the latter work are also included).

Most of the collection consists of letters to Golśteĭn; there are some as well to her second husband, Vladimir A. Gol'shtein. The materials reflect Gol'shtein ties to Russian liberalism and populism and also to both French and Russian art and literature. There are groups of cataloged letters from Renʹe Arcos (15), Mykhailo Drahomaniv (52), Andrʹe Fontainas (31), Renʹe Ghil (32), Viacheslav Ivanov (17), Petr Lavrov (49), Vladimir Vernadskii (20), and Maksimilian Voloshin (29). There are also items by Jurgis Baltrušaitis, Henri Martin Barzun, Henri Bergson, Ivan Bunin, Sergei Diagilev, Paul Fort, Vladislav Khodasevich, Aristide Maillol, and Odilon Redon. Manuscripts are chiefly by Golśhteĭn, and include her memoirs on Drahomaniv. There are also poems by Voloshin and by Konstantin Bal'mont. Subject files deal with such topics as the Russian famine of 1891-92 and the Russian Liberation Committee at the time of the Civil War. There is a copy of Gol'shtein's book, "Serf Life in Russia."

Collection includes 1 letter each from Konstantin Balḿont and Alekseĭ Remizov, and copies of letters by Ivan Bunin. Manuscripts by Grebenshchikov in the collection include "Churaevy," and "Mikula, the turbulent giant." Also included are manuscripts by Balḿont and Remizov.

Besides correspondence, there are a few manuscripts, and also biographical information on many of the authors. Among the correspondents are Ivan Bunin, Vladimir Nabokov, Alekseĭ Remizov, Gleb Struve, and Boris Vysheslavt︠s︡ev.
