Harry Gove papers 7 Linear Feet
The Harry Gove Papers include three series: Activism; Career and Leisure Activities; and Publications and Clippings Collected by Gove. The first series, Activism (1965-1971), consists primarily of Friends of FIGHT and Metro-Act materials such as meeting minutes and information about initiatives. This series also includes Gove's own notes from his involvement. The second series, Career and Leisure Activities (1955-1971), includes a limited number of notes and tests from Gove's work as a professor at the University of Rochester as well as records of events at the University, some of which relate to activism. It also contains materials from Gove's leisure activities in Rochester, Canada, and abroad. The third series, Publications and Clippings Collected by Gove, consists largely of news clippings from the late 1960s and early 1970s, including those Gove assembled into two scrapbooks. A larger scrapbook includes news articles related to FIGHT and Metro-Act from 1969-1971. The pages of a smaller scrapbook include news articles on police action in Rochester during the summer of 1970.
The collection includes correspondence and notes, and the manuscripts of his published and unpublished books, articles and addressee. The collection has been expanded with the acquisition of photographs, photographic glass plates, scrapbooks, additional notes, miscellaneous papers and memorabilia.The final additions to the Fairchild papers were made after the Professor's death, when his wife gave the residue of his personal papers to the Library.
Hyam Plutzik papers, 1924-2010 40 boxes
The collection consists of four boxes of miscellaneous biographical material from early education through Plutzik's years as a professor at the University of Rochester; four boxes of correspondence; twelve boxes of manuscripts of poetry, published and unpublished; three boxes of manuscripts of critical essays and fiction; eleven boxes of lectures, exams, and miscellaneous material from courses he taught at the University of Rochester; two boxes of material from poetry recitals and public lectures; and two boxes of miscellaneous academic and departmental materials.
The papers consist of two volumes of typescripts of Dr. Hoffmeister's speeches, convocation addresses, commencement addresses, radio talks, writings, etc., from 1934 to 1960. At the beginning of each volume there is a table of contents.
The John Rothwell Slater Papers consist primarily of Slater's writings, mostly typewritten copies and newspaper clippings. The order of the articles and book reviews in Box 3 (binders and envelope) was arranged by Dr. Slater himself, who planned to publish his works under the title Obiter Dicta.

The Joseph and U. T. Summers Papers consists of two series, Unpublished Lectures and Correspondence. The four lectures were delivered by Professor Summers while he was Fulbright Professor at All Souls' College, Oxford University. The Correspondence Series contains a mixture of correspondence, clippings, and articles.
The papers consist mainly of maps and reports related to Professor Gavett's tour of duty in France with the Engineering Corp during World War I.
This collection is an addition to the original Kendrick Family Papers (call number A. K32). The bulk of the first collection centers mainly on correspondence and other papers of Asahel Clark Kendrick (1809-1895), professor of Greek at the University of Rochester (1809-1895), author and translator, and of Ryland Morris Kendrick (1867-1947), professor of Greek at the University of Rochester (1891-1937) along with correspondence of trustees, prominent educators, clergymen, and literary figures. This collection also includes family correspondence to and from A. C. Kendrick from his wives: Anne Elizabeth (Hopkins) Kendrick, and Helen Morris (Hooker) Kendrick; his children, and his son-in-law Rossiter Johnson.
The Kendrick Philander Shedd Papers include correspondence about his resignation from the University of Rochester faculty for socialist sympathies; reminiscences of the socialist movement in Milwaukee, 1915; personal scrapbooks and autobiography; as well as published and unpublished writings. There are also scrapbooks of minutes, correspondence, and clippings on Socialist Educational Federation of Rochester, sponsored by the Progressive Working People's Lyceum and Local Rochester, Socialist Party, 1914; letters and papers concerning the Rochester Socialist Sunday School and Young People's Socialist League; scrapbooks about the Social Center at School No. 9, Rochester, 1908-10; and a defense of Shedd by Lloyd Somers, with exhibits.
The Lionel McKenzie Papers document McKenzie's career as an Economic Professor. The majority of the materials in the collection are letters written to and from McKenzie. There are also materials that document his committee and society work. A third body of materials consists of department meetings and faculty recruitment. There are also documents related to McKenzie's research.
The Marshall Gates Research Notebooks collection is comprised of four manuscript boxes containing 107 glass lantern slides, research, dissertations, and fourteen volumes, recording fifty years of Marshall Gates, Jr.'s laboratory activities.
The collection consists of correspondence written by Raymond Dexter Havens from France to family and friends while he was engaged as a Y.M.C.A. volunteer, 1917-1919, letters written to Raymond Dexter Havens from Cecilia Beaux (1863-1942), American painter, and letters from other scholars to Raymond Dexter Havens. There is also a collection of classroom registers from his English classes at the University of Rochester, 1909-1925.
The Richard Fenno Papers include materials gathered from interviews Professor Fenno conducted with members of Congress beginning in the 1960s through the early 2000s. The boxes contain research notes, biographical materials and correspondence between Professor Fenno and his interview subject. Boxes 1-25 contain interview notes dating from the 1950s through the 1980s. Also included in the collection are research notes about Congress more generally, and drafts of book chapters. The collection also include lectures and talks that Professor Fenno gave during his career, both at the University of Rochester and as a speaker at other universities.
The Samuel Allan Lattimore Papers are comprised of one box containing a volume of mounted newspaper clippings (most of them about lectures given by Lattimore) and six pieces of related printed ephemera, such as announcements of lectures and tickets of admission.
The Leslie (Stuart W.) Collection consists of twenty-nine audiocassettes containing interviews done by Dr. Stuart W. "Bill" Leslie, Professor of History of Science and Technology at John Hopkins University. They were done for his prospective book, Blue Collar Science. Many of the interviewees are faculty and staff at the University of Rochester, while others are prominent Rochester scientists.
The William Carey Morey Papers include the diary that Professor Morey kept while a member of the Union Army during the Civil War, as well as copies of papers and addresses written by Professor Morey.
William Harrison Riker papers, 1943-1993 115 boxes
The collection contains professional correspondence and departmental correspondence from Riker's years at Lawrence University and at the University of Rochester along with papers written by Riker, both published and unpublished, many including rough drafts and correspondence concerning revisions.The collection also contains many papers written by other political scientists who sent copies to Riker for comments. Forty-two books with marginal comments by Riker are included at the end of the collection.

The Willson H. Coates Papers include materials from Coates's time as a professor at the University of Rochester and as a consultant and visiting professor at other institutions. The collection also contains materials relating to his civic and political activities, including his work with the National War Labor Board and the Police Advisory Board. Also included are personal papers, items relating to his work with various learned societies and journals, scholarly projects, notebooks, and assorted publications.
