The Women's National Book Association Papers document the history and work of the Women's National Book Association from their founding in 1917 until today. The organization is active in promoting women in the book industry through awards and programs to increase women's participation in the profession and the role of women in publishing and other book-related fields.

Correspondence, notes, articles, reports, and speeches of Gildersleeve, including materials relating to the United Nations Conference in San Francisco, 1945, the Dumbarton Oaks Conference, the International Federation of University Women, the American Association of University Women, the American Council on Education, and the Near East College Association. The most note-worthy item in the collection is a letter from President Franklin D. Roosevelt, appointing Dean Gildersleeve to serve as a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Charter Conference of the United Nations. The collection also contains some material relating to Barnard College affairs.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs and printed material. The editorial, publicity, and production files detail the publishing of some 450 titles, mostly from the 1970s and 1980s. Among the cataloged correspondents are: Woody Allen, Christy Brown, Claude Brown, Pearl S. Buck, William F. Buckley, Jr.; James T. Farrell, Leslie A. Fiedler, Jack Higgins, William Inge, Elia Kazan, Henry Miller, and J. B. Priestley. There are nineteen manuscripts, most with authorial or editorial corrections, as well as publicity photographs of Christy Brown, Claude Brown, Chester Himes, and Robert Oppenheimer, Jack Higgins et al

The collection consists primarily of carbon copies of manuscripts for Pearl S. Buck's short stories, essays, speeches, and screenplays. Some copies include corrections and additions in Buck's handwriting. The collection also includes publications by other authors including an exhaustive bibliography of Buck's work by Lucille S. Zinn of the Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Foundation, Inc.

There are substantial gaps for the years 1921-1939.

Also included is material on the World War II draft of 19-year-olds, economic aid for Western Europe, the Vietnam War, the origin of SANE, the Committee for Nuclear Responsibility, the Amchitka Islands nuclear tests, the Task Force against Nuclear Pollution, and personal correspondence from her own and her husband's families

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, notes, notecards, journals, diaries, photographs, slides, memorabilia and printed materials documenting Goodrich's career in the field of Chinese language and history, as well as materials on the cultural affairs of twentieth century China. Among the cataloged correspondence are Joseph Alsop, Pearl S. Buck, Norman Cousins, Philip C. Jessup, H.H. Kung, Owen Lattimore, and Nathan Pusey. Part of the collection is arranged in Goodrich's alphabetical subject/name file and the remainder is arranged alphabetically. The correspondence is from colleagues, students, business associates, friends, etc. The subject files are on a variety of topics concerning China, the Far East, printing, medicine, the arts, and technology; material on the Chinese Civil Service Examination; associations, schools, foundations, missions and their work in the Far East.

Member of Fraternity of Leaders of the American Ethical Union; author and scholar in field of American philosophical and religious thought. The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, course materials, research notes, minutes, clippings, reprints of articles, as well as 25 inscribed or annotated books.

The papers relate to numerous organizations--social, political, civic, and philanthropic--with which he was associated. Among these organizations are Legal Aid Society; Prison Association of New York; Outdoor Recreation League; Socialist Democratic League and National Party; American Alliance for Labor and Democracy; Constitutional Democracy Association; National Security League; YMCA, etc. Included among the papers are his journals and diaries, 1884-1950.
