The Activism at The New School oral history program, initiated in 2019, documents touchstone moments of activism on The New School's campus from the perspective of students, faculty, and staff who participated. As of April 2020, interviewees include activists in the anti-Vietnam War movement; the 1996-1997 Mobilization for Real Diversity, Democracy, and Economic Justice at The New School; and campus protests in the 2000s-2010s.

Audio and video recordings of events sponsored by the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research, 1959-2007. The graduate school at the New School was established in 1933 as the Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science. In its early years, the school was often referred to as the University in Exile. The division's name was changed in 2005 to the New School for Social Research (NSSR).

This collection consists of the papers of Jeffrey Goldfarb, the Michael E. Gellert Professor of Sociology at The New School. The collection contains teaching files; materials relating to Goldfarb's work in Poland; correspondence; and manuscripts for Goldfarb's published books. Also included are manuscripts of papers delivered at conferences, book reviews, prospectuses, and materials relating to Goldfarb's studies at the University of Chicago. Also found herein are materials pertaining to the Democracy Seminar, including forty-six audiocassettes primarily ranging from 1984-1989. Among printed material included in this collection are eleven issues of a mini-magazine published by Bread and Puppet Theater condensing newspaper reports of the Vietnam War into handmade pictorial narratives.

This collection encompasses material related to the overall administration of The New School from 1928-2008. It includes reports, financial papers, board of trustees meeting agendas and minutes, and documents prepared for accrediting by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The bulk of the files date from the late 1940s-early 1960s and the 1990s-2000s. Of note is "The New School Study" of 1952, also known as the "Swift Report."

Collection consists of printed materials produced for The New School and Parsons School of Design's commencement and convocation ceremonies, as well as presidential inauguration ceremonies for New School presidents, and other milestone events celebrated during convocation and commencement, such as anniversaries of the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research.

This collection consists of course catalogs from The New School, including continuing education courses, Eugene Lang College, the Dramatic Workshop of The New School, New School Art Workshops and the New School for Social Research, formerly known as the Graduate Faculty.

These records originate from the New School for Social Research Dean's Office and its predecessor school, the Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science (in its early years, also known as the University in Exile). The records relate to departmental matters, including budgeting, curriculum development, faculty appointments, fellowships and program accreditation. Documentation will also be found for centers and institutes supported by the division. The files also document events (1990s-2000s); the Speier Professorship (1990s); and controversies over New School president Bob Kerrey's war record (2001-2003). Some files are restricted. This collection contains student, faculty, and staff handbooks from The New School and various divisions and departments within the university. These guides cover student life, degree requirements, information about living in New York City, among other topics. Faculty handbooks offer teaching guidelines and regulations, while materials created for international students provide information on adapting to life in the United States.

The New School oral history program, initiated in 2012, consists of recorded sound interviews conducted by Archives and Special Collections staff and faculty partners to document aspects of university history that may not exist in other recorded formats. Interviewees consist of current and retired New School alumni, administrators, faculty, and staff. Topics cover different academic departments and disciplines, university offices, and affiliated institutes. As of May 2020, there are twenty-six interviews in this collection. Recordings are all in English.
