Papers, letters, accounts, and other miscellaneous material which relate to or were formerly in possession of Robert Stanard. The letters include some from his father, Larkin Stanard, and his brothers, John and Thomas, as well as from political and business associates. The papers include bills, accounts, and receipts.
Letters, invitations, documents, page proofs, photographs, lithographs, and books of Rosenman. Letters from political acquaintances including Benjamin Cardozo and W. Averell Harriman, to Rosenman and his wife, Dorothy, one letter by Henry Clay to H. Shaw 23 Sept. 1826 collected by Rosenman, invitations to official social functions, two sets of proofs for political pamphlets written by Rosenman on behalf of New York Governor Alfred E. Smith, photographic and lithographic portraits of political acquaintances signed and inscribed to Rosenman, including those of Dwight D. Eisenhower, W. Averell Harriman, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Harry S. Truman. Other correspondents include Charles A. Beard, Louis D. Brandeis, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Wendell Willkie. Also, thirteen books dealing with the Roosevelt administration signed and inscribed by the authors.
Correspondence, reports, speeches, diaries, photographs, and memorabilia of Remington, including Remington's diaries and scrabooks, and copies of some of the Governor's speeches and reports. Also, an interesting collection of correspondence pertaining to the arrival of Russian warships in Manila harbor after the battle of Tsushima Straits.
A collection of documents signed by American presidents and bound together in a single volume. Every president, except Eisenhower and Nixon, is represented in the collection. The documents, which are mostly military and naval appointments, certificates of merit, etc. are routine in nature, but an autographed copy (printed) of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's second inaugural address and a signed mimeographed copy of Lyndon Baines Johnson's speech to Congress, November 27, 1963, are also included.
Correspondence, reports, pamphlets, and clippings of Norman. Among the subjects represented are health, population control, civil liberties, refugees, exiled governments and peoples of World War II, United Nations, education, delinquency, race relations, emerging nationalities, censorship, and foreign aid. Much of the correspondence in the collection centers around Mrs. Norman's column in THE NEW YORK POST in the 1940s. Organizations in the collection include Civil Liberties Union, Americans for Democratic Action, American Citizens Committee for Economic Aid Abroad, Women's City Club, American Emergency Food Committee for India, Urban League, Liberal Party, Citizens Union, Free Germany Movement, Free China Movement, and United World Federation. Also included are correspondence, manuscripts, research materials, and printed materials dealing with Norman's research and writing on India. There are two working manuscripts, one on India, the other on Nehru. Also, a fragmentary manuscript of her memoirs and the beginnings of a study of Alfred Stieglitz.
Reports, surveys, articles, government publications, and other printed material relating to all aspects of child labor. Many of the items were prepared and issued by the National Child Labor Committee.
Letters and documents, the majority written between 1700 and 1900, dealing with both personal and corporate business and financial matters, assembled by Montgomery. The letters are chiefly by American and English writers. Many of the American letters are to and from various United States Treasury officials, usually the Secretary of the Treasury. Of the 107 letters by Joseph Anderson (1757-1835), U.S. Senator and jurist, the majority are written to Samuel Swartwout (1783-1856) when he was Comptroller of the United States and Collector of the Port of New York. Most of the documents are American with New York City firms predominating.
