His correspondents include contemporary authors such as Edmund Blunden, Christopher Hassall, Louis Kronenberger; scholars such as James P. Clifford, Leon Edel, and A.L. Rowse. There are also some letters collected by Halsband, including those by Mrs Piozzi, John Wilkes (1727-1797) and John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute (1713-1792). Among the manuscripts are notes, drafts, typescripts, and proofs of his LIFE OF LADY WORTLEY MONTAGU (Oxford, 1956) and COMPLETE LETTERS OF LADY MARY WORTLEY MONTAGU (Oxford, 1965-1967). Also, manuscripts and typescripts of Halsband's diaries, journals, lectures, articles, book reviews, and essays. Material relating to the Worden and Chesebro families of Canandaigua, New York. Consists of family genealogical records compiled by Mrs. Robert H. Chesebro, 1963, or copied by her from the originals; and Xerox copies of four scrapbooks kept by Frances (Worden) Chesebro (1826-1909), the niece of Mrs. William H. Seward, which contain letters from family and friends, newspaper clippings of deaths of family and friends, and invitations. Also a diary (1854 or 5 - 1931) kept by Margaret McJannet, nursemaid for Frank Chesebro, on a trip to Nassau, Bahamas in 1859-60.

The earliest item is Ms. 18, a Papal bull relating to notaries and appointing Julius de Gentilibus as a notary; the latest is an invoice book from 1941. The types of volumes contained in this collection include instruction books, daybooks, waste books, journals, bank books, ledgers, receipt books, storage books, invoice books, registers, ships' logs, letter books, diaries, town books, tax roll books, articles of agreement, bills of sale, deeds, wills, and many other significant items. The material originated in many countries around the globe, and represents a range of business and occupations from household to trading company (e.g., English (East India Company) and French East Indian Company (Compagnie des Indes orientales) volumes), and from itinerant laborer to lawyer and physician. The majority of the manuscripts are English and American of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The earliest American account is Ms. 75, 1690-1730, Josiah Winslow, Plymouth, Mass.

The correspondence includes letters from Aleksis Rannit, Alexandra Tolstoy, and the editors of "Novoe russkoe slovo," Mark Weinbaum and Andrei Sedykh (pseudonym of Iakov Tsvibak). There are three different typescript versions and handwritten drafts of Berezov's novel "Volzhskii solovei" as well as manuscripts of his short stories and poems. There are also many notebooks containing drafts of poems and miscellaneous notes. Berezov's diaries cover the years 1944 to 1975. Printed materials include books and clippings about Berezov, also books by other authors from his library. A subject file on Alexandra Tolstoy contains numerous articles concerning her father as well as her work in this country; there are also poems by Berezov which are dedicated to her.
