Ekaterina Nikolaevna Roshchina-Insarova Papers, 1907-1950
500 itemsThe collection includes correspondence from Konstantin Balḿont, Nikolaĭ Evreĭnov, Zinaida Gippius, Georgiĭ Grebenshchikov, Vasiliĭ Maklakov, Sergeĭ Potresov and Nadezhda Teffi. There is one letter each from Boris Bakhmeteff, Vera Bunina, Aleksandr Grechaninov, Aleksandr Kuprin and Alekseĭ Tolstoĭ. The manuscripts include poems and a play scenario by Nadezhda Teffi as well as Roshchina-Insarova's autobiographical essays and article about Sergeĭ Lifar.́ In addition, there are three scrapbooks containing clippings and programs of Roshchina-Insarova's performances, and approximately 40 photographs of her.
Eleanor M. Tilton papers, 1770-1991
68 linear feetThis collection includes nine letters of Ralph Waldo Emerson as well as letters of Louis Agassiz, Amos Bronson Alcott, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, James Russell Lowell, John Lothrop Motley, Charles Sumner, and John Greenleaf Whittier. In addition, there are two incomplete manuscripts by Emerson and one document from the Liverpool Custom-house signed by Nathaniel Hawthorne as Consul for the United States. The collection also includes the corrected typescript, index, and page and galley proofs for Thomas Franklin Currier, A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF OLIVER WENDELL HOLMES (New York, 1953) which was edited by Professor Tilton. Also, some early correspondence and photographs of the Tilton family and friends. There are letters from the actors Annie Louise Ames, Richard J. Dillon, and Hans L. Meery to Tilton's grandfather, Bernard Paul Verne, as well as photographs, tintypes, and daguerreotypes of the Verne family and friends.
Elena Nikolaevna Sidorova Papers, 1965-1978
28 itemsThe collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts by Sidorova and a photograph, presumably of Sidorova (1970). The manuscripts (signed Evgenii︠a︡ Mor, her pseudonym) include short stories, poems and essays about the second world war. Particularly noteworthy are long essays on the painter Kuzḿa Petrov-Vodkin (including lists of his works in private collections) and the playwright Evgeniĭ Shvart︠s︡, both of whom Sidorova knew personally. There are also brief essays about the writers Alekseĭ Pli︠u︡shkin (Ugri︠u︡mov) and Ivanov-Razumnik.
Emmanuil Pavlovich Benningsen Papers, 1875-1955
750 itemsThe collection includes more than 100 letters to Benningsen from P.P. Ignatév, the last Minister of Imperial Russia, written in 1920-1921; and correspondence between Benningsen and his wife, Ekaterina Platonovna Benningsen, and Ksenii︠a︡ V. Denikina. Several manuscripts by E. P. Benningsen are also included: a long memoir which treats the history of the Benningsen family, his own government and Red Cross service, the 1917 Revolution and the Civil War, and emigration in France and Brazil. There are copies of his lectures and articles on historical topics; a lengthy essay on the character of modern politics called "Ce que la vie m'a enseigne"̀; and a number of reviews of books dealing with Russia. There are two sets of subject files: one containing materials relating to the activities of the "Soi︠u︡z Pazheĭ" (an emigre organization of former members of the Corps of Pages); the other, materials relating to the efforts by former officers of the Kavalergardskiĭ Regiment to recover a trove of silver objects belonging to them that they had deposited in the State Treasury at the beginning of World War I and which finally ended up in Belgrade. A brief biographical note on her husband by Ekaterina P. Benningsen and a few photographs complete the collection.

Most of the collection consists of his personal and professional papers, circa 1918-1973. Sizable groups of materials also concern members of his family, especially his wife Nina (1884-1971); his father, scientist Vladimir I. Vernadskii (1863-1945); his mother Nataliia E. Vernadskaia (1860-1943); and his sister Nina V. Toll' (1898-circa 1976).
Georgii Ivanovich Shavel'skii Papers, 1920-1950
200 itemsThe collection primarily consists of unpublished manuscripts by Shavelśkiĭ. There are also letters from Shavelśkiĭ to his daughter (Marii︠a︡ Novit︠s︡kai︠a︡), several photographs of Shavelśkiĭ, clippings and miscellaneous printed items. Shavelśkiĭ's manuscripts include his memoirs (1920) which describe church affairs in Russia, World War I, the Imperial family and the 1917 Revolution; "Nabroski s natury" (1947), a series of brief essays and stories; "Pokhod protiv Rasputina" (n.d.); "Russkai︠a︡ t︠s︡erkov ́pred revoli︠u︡t︠s︡ieĭ" (1937); and "V dobrovolćheskoĭ armii" (1943), which describes Shavelśkiĭ's service as an army chaplain. Other manuscripts include brief sketches of Shavelśkiĭ by Feodor Bokach and N.N. Glubokovskiĭ.
Il'ia L'vovich Tolstoĭ papers, 1920-1930
2 boxesCorrespondence of I.L. Tolstoĭ. Nearly all the correspondence is between Il'ia Tolstoĭ and his wife, Nadezhda Klementévna Tolstai︠a︡. It primarily dates from the 1920s and concerns the lecture series Il'iaTolstoĭ gave throughout the United States and in Paris. There is one letter from Aleksandra L. Tolstai︠a︡ and a folder of official correspondence relating to the lecture series, including several letters from Tolstoĭ's manager. There is a brief essay by Tolstoĭ entitled "A Democratic Peace" and an unidentified photograph, presumably of Nadezhda Tolstai︠a︡.
Illarion Sergeevich Vasil'chikov Papers, 1909-1969
24 itemsCorrespondence, manuscripts, a photograph and printed materials of Illarion Sergeevich Vasil'chikov. The catalogued materials consist of a copy of a letter to Vasil'chikov from B. E. Nold́e, and a copy of a poem dedicated to Vasil'chikov by A. A. Otsup, i.e., Sergei Gornyi. The manuscripts, all of which are by Vasil'chikov, are autobiographical in nature. They concern his service in the Imperial Senate (including a 1908 senatorial inspection tour of Turkestan), his participation in the Duma, his work with the Red Cross in 1917, and his membership in the All-Russian Orthodox Church Council of 1917. There are also essays about his family genealogy. The collection includes excerpts and clippings from various sources describing the Vasil'chikov family.
Iuliia Aleksandrovna Kutyrina Papers on Ivan Shmelev, 1923-1961
21 itemsThe papers, which primarily concern Shmelev, consist of correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials. The correspondence includes photocopies of letters from Petr Struve to Ivan Shmelev, and of letters from Shmelev to one Aleksandr Ivanovich. Manuscripts consist of Kutyrina's memoirs and essays about Shmelev; these draw heavily on correspondence of Shmelev, Ivan Bunin, Konstantin Balḿont, and Thomas Mann. Also included are Kutyrina's memoirs about the October 1917 Revolution in Moscow. Printed materials consist of books by Kutyrina's husband, the writer Ivan Novgorod-Severskiĭ.
