Griffith, William S., 1932-1996.
Papers of the adult education professor and researcher. Includes Griffith's correspondence and his own writings (articles, book chapters, reports, speeches) as well as an extensive amount of relevant material by others including articles and clippings, conference proceedings, papers, reports and studies, speeches, and printed material. The collection reflects Griffith's interest in international education (material from countries ranging from Africa and Asia to Scotland and Sweden), correctional education (particularly for sex offenders), and population education (Planned Parenthood, population education in Egypt). There is also a considerable amount of material from organizations with which Griffith was closely involved, including the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE), the Commission of Professors of Adult Education (CPAE), the Northwest Adult Education Association, and the Universities of Chicago and of British Columbia.

Langner, William R.
William Langner worked for the Department of Education's Division of Adult Education and Literacy for many years. He was active in raising awareness of education for the disabled (Langner himself was a paraplegic from the age of 18 due to a car accident). Collection includes correspondence (both personal and professional), writings, memorabilia, and large amounts of printed material (papers, reports, handbooks, manuals, etc).concerning adult education.

Thompson, Willard
Willard Thompson was an American professor of journalism and Dean of the General Extension Division and Summer Session (1969-1970), later Dean of the Summer School at the University of Minnesota. Papers include correspondence, meeting minutes and agendas, programs, lists and resolutions. The papers reflect Thompson’s role as Public Relations Committee Chairman for the Galaxy Conference (1969) and the subsequent Wingspread Conference (1976). Noteworthy among the correspondents because of his role in both conferences is Alexander N. Charters.

Williams, Wheeler, 1897-1972.
Manuscript entitled "Confusion in the Art World." Collection also includes supporting material: an article by Williams entitled "The Truth About Modern Art," a copy of a Congressional Record from 1959 recording Congressional concern about Communism in the art world, and a mimeo of a letter with notes purporting to document Communist party discussions on how best to use art in America as a political weapon.

University Council on Education for Public Responsibility
The University Council on Education for Public Responsibility was founded in 1961 by the presidents of eleven institutions to facilitate inter-university cooperation in promoting more responsible citizenship. Records include correspondence (Henry G. Alter, Alexander Charters, Granville Davis, C. Fletcher Scott, A.A. Liveright, and Carl Tjerandsen); organization records including bylaws, financial reports, lists of officers, meeting papers, minutes, and notes; and records of various projects undertaken by the organizationl, including urbanization, automation, and leadership programs at universities.

Files of the American educator (1907-1984). Personal files include oral history, correspondence from and about Theodor Wilhelm, memorabilia, photographs, material on Nazi education, student papers, speeches, selected writings, some audio-visual material, etc. There are organizational records for several California education organizations as well as a number of key national adult education organizations including the Adult Education Association of the U.S.A., Association of University Evening Colleges, Center for the Study of Liberal Education for Adults, National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, National University Extension Association, UNESCO, and University Council on Education for Public Responsibility. International Congress of University Adult Education
The International Congress of University Adult Education (ICUAE) was formed in 1960 to exchange information and opinions about activities in adult education, and to discuss ways of advancing adult education on a broad front. Records include correspondence, membership records, memoranda, minutes and reports. Organizations represented in the collection include the Center for the Study of Liberal Education for Adults and Unesco. The Institutes of Religion and Health was formed by the merger of the Academy of Religion and Mental Health, and the American Foundation of Religion and Psychiatry, with its Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute. The merger combined the resources of two long established and widely known interfaith, interracial, interdisciplinary, nonprofit, tax-exempt agencies serving human health and well-being. Collection comprises organizational records including general files, correspondence, financial records (balance sheets, budgets), and printed material (annual reports, bulletins, newsletters).

Hunsaker, Herbert Cason, 1891-
Hunsaker was involved in adult education for over sixty years. Papers include brochures, clippings, correspondence, memoranda, pamphlets, reports, speeches, audiorecordings of interviews, and materials related to Hunsaker's thesis. Best represented are the dissertation materials, his international activities with World Education, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and UNESCO, and his activities related to professional conferences and seminars. Of interest are the papers related to his China and Middle East tours. Significant correspondents include Rewi Allen, George E. Davis, Thomas B. Keehn, Paul Sheats, and Hunsaker's family. Among the personal papers are those concerning Hermann H. Field, for whom Hunsaker acted as absentee executor.

Papers of the American painter, humanitarian. The collection includes artwork reproductions, correspondence subject files, memorabilia and writings, much of which deal with Weston's work in various organizations, including the Adirondack Trail Improvement Society, the American Federation of Arts, the Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors, Food for Freedom, the International Association of the Plastic Arts of Plastic Arts, the National Council on the Arts and Government and the United Nations. The collection provides a detailed look at the lobbying efforts to create the National Endowment for the Arts as well as development of post-World War Two international cooperation in the arts.
