This is an artificial collection composed of individual letters as well as correspondence and other materials of missionaries and related persons doing mission work throughout the world, largely dating from the 20th century.

The most substantial part of the collection is the extensive correspondence between Nien Cheng and June Rose Garrott (originals have been scanned onto discs). There are letters; WWW print-outs; email print-outs; artwork; audio cassettes; VHS tapes; DVDs; CDs; photographs; a scroll; a fan; printed ephemera; books; and a bust of Lao She.

Correspondence along with a notebook, identification cards, term reports, and other documents dating from Noe’s time as a student and assistant librarian at Rutgers and from several years after he graduated, along with clippings of his articles, a draft of his thesis, and photographs, notes and other material relating to his published work on Massachusetts colonial coins. Noe served the ANS as librarian, secretary, and curator.

Titus Coan was an Auburn Theological Seminary alumnus and Presbyterian missionary; his first wife Fidelia Church Coan was a teacher who accompanied him to Hawaii on missionary work. The collection contains letters describing events and practical concerns of life in Hawaii, and reflecting on the missionary movement of the time.
