Edward Pierre Buyck (1888-1960) was a Belgian artist who immigrated to the United States and was active in the Slingerlands, New York, area. Buyck was known for painting portraits of prominent politicians, race horses, landscapes, and historical settings. In 1920, he married Mary Williard Vine, who was a landscape artist and interior designer. Much of Buyck’s work was lost during a fire in his studio in 1940. The collection contains biographical material, correspondence, exhibition catalogs, and scrapbooks. The donation also contained some items which have been separated and are housed in the Curatorial Department.

Scott Dumont Goodwin (1845-1935) was the legal representative and attorney for a number of influential Albanians and others whose affairs and estates are represented in this collection. Also included is the correspondence and diaries of Lieutenant George Wait Goodwin U.S. Air Force, who was killed in France in 1918, and Edward S. Goodwin, Albany physician, Helen Goodwin Yale, and Louise Goodwin, who were all children of Scott Dumont Goodwin. This collection includes correspondence, diaries, accounts, and legal papers.

Harry Douglas Yates (1903-1996) was a banker, politician, and developed the Dutch Village apartment complex in Menands, New York. This collection contains diaries, correspondence, deeds, scrapbooks, and other related papers.

Heath Babcock (1901-1992) worked at the New York State Library for 38 years as a medical librarian. This collection contains personal papers, photographs, and a scrapbook.

D-Cady Herrick was a prominent Albany lawyer, jurist, and democratic politician whose influence and recognition extended to the national level during the late 19th and early 20th century. This collection contains correspondence, clippings, obituaries, scrapbooks, ledger books, and other business records.

Personal papers of June Laura Bjorklund Martin. Contains personal records, correspondence, vacation materials, photographs, and other personal materials created by June B. Martin. Also contains a few documents reflect her career in New York State government, including newspaper clippings or personal letters between co-workers.

The Palmer-Gavit Family Papers include the correspondence, writings, genealogy, scrapbooks, photographs, and articles pertaining to the entire Gavit family. The collection also contains correspondence, reference materials, scrapbooks, record books and writings related to Erastus Dow Palmer and Walter Launt Palmer.

Parker Dunn was a winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor. The bridge over the Hudson River was named in his memory. An American Legion Post was named for Parker Dunn.

Thomas Worth Olcott (1795-1880) was born in Hudson, Columbia County, New York, to Josiah and Carolina Worth Olcott. Olcott eventually became president of the Mechanics and Farmer Bank in Albany, New York, and served on the boards of the Albany Law School and the Dudley Observatory, among others. This collection contains estate records, correspondence, newspaper clippings, bills, account books, photographs, scrapbooks, and genealogical information.

The Helping Hand Seal and Stamp Club, later the Women’s Stamp and Seal Club, was formed in 1936 by two friends, Mrs. George J. Skinner and Mrs. William Weigman. This collection includes minute books, photographs, newspaper clippings, programs, copies of stamps, constitution, and by-laws, correspondences, member information, meeting announcements, AIHA pamphlets, poems by members, Albany Academy history, award ribbons, a Loving Cup inscribed “Women’s Seal and Stamp Club of Albany,” NY Grand Award arch 26, 1946, three ink stamps, one “Elm Tree” die, painting of the “Elm Tree.”
