Background
- Scope and Content:
The Academic Regalia collection contains robes, hoods, and caps worn by University of Rochester administrators, faculty, students, and trustees at formal events. Descriptions of regalia include the name of the manufacturer (Cotrell and Leonard, for example) when this information is known. Each set of regalia has been assigned a number, which appears before the title of the item(s).
- Acquisition information:
- Materials acquired from various sources. Five hoods (items 41-45) worn by Rush Rhees were transferred from the Rush Rhees Presidential Papers to this collection. Eleven hoods (items 46-56) worn by Alan Valentine were transferred from the Alan Valentine Presidential Papers. Four hoods (items 57-60) were transferred from the Museum Objects collection.
