The State University of New York Research Foundation Collection, circa 1957-1984 includes charter and by-laws, policy manuals, expenditure profile, handbooks, guides, and published materials.

Biographical / Historical:

The State University of New York Research Foundation was chartered on February 16, 1951 (No. 5999) and amended on June 29, 1951 (No. 6065) by the Board of Regents for and on behalf of the State Education Department. The charter originally incorporated Alvin Eurich, Charles Foster, Irving Waxman, Carlyle Jacobsen, Reubin Frodin, Lawrence Jarvie, Hermann Cooper, John Weiss, and Kent Brown as the first board members. Its purpose was to assist in developing and increasing the facilities of State University of New York to provide more extensive educational opportunities for and service to its students, faculty, staff and alumni, and to the people of the State of New York, by making and encouraging gifts, grants, contributions, and donations of real and personal property to or for the benefit of State University of New York. The purpose of the research foundation was also to receive, hold, and administer gifts or grants, and to act without profits as trustee of educational or charitable trusts. They were also responsible for financing studies and research in any and all fields of arts and sciences.

The State University of New York Research Foundation Collection, circa 1957-1984 was removed from the University Archives vertical files, in April, 2019 as accession 19-006.
