Background

Scope and Content:

The collection consists of calendar dates with names of different parties who did business in the court that year. The names of both plaintiff and defendant are given together with the description of the action brought, and the names of the attorneys for each side and the plea entered. Many familiar Albany names occur in the calendars. There is also a book of receipts paid to the city, reported missing in August of 1991. Finally, there is an order to convene a court session.

The collection is housed in two different folders. Each folder lists an item-by-item description of each paper. The book is housed separately.

Biographical / Historical:

The Albany County Court Calendar Records include schedules of court appearances for plaintiffs and defendants. Although the collection includes records from 1794-1895, the bulk of the records date from the 1830s and 1840s.
