Place of enlistment is likely Richland not Richmond, N.Y. Age, 22 years. Enrolled, August 21, 1862, at Richmond, to serve three years; mustered in as first sergeant, Company C, September 22, 1862; as second lieutenant, February 20, 1863; as first lieutenant and adjutant, January 17, 1864; captured in action, May 5, 1864, at the Wilderness, Va; exchanged March 1, 1865; discharged May 12, 1865. Commissioned second lieutenant, February 13, 1863, with rank from February 4, 1863, vice W.R. Potts promoted; first lieutenant, not mustered, December 24, 1863, with rank from November 5, 1863, vice W.R.
