Collection
Trofimov, Lev

The collection consists of a series of letters from Mariia Trofimova to her son, Len Trofimov, who escaped the U.S.S.R. after the 1917 Revolution and went to live in the United States. The collection contains 40 letters and five post cards from Mariia to Lev, and 11 letters from his sisters, Evgeniia and Galina. There are also several letters from various persons, as well as translations of some excerpts made for a graduate project at Villanova University. The collection documents everyday life in the U.S.S.R. during Stalin's purges. The bulk of the letters cover the 1930s and the last post card was written at the beginning of World War II.
