Romaldo Giurgola drawings, 1965-1977 20 drawings
The collection consists of pencil sketches and drawings by Romaldo Giurgola for three Michell/Guirgola Architects architectural projects. The three projects represented in this collection are Mission Park Residential Houses for Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts (1971), three schemes for The American Institute of Architects National Headquarters Building Competition in Washington, D.C.(1965-67), and The Sherman Fairchild Center for Life Sciences at Columbia University in New York City (1977).
Papers collected by Roman G. Mi︠a︡gkov, primarily concerning several Imperial military units, consisting of correspondence, documents, photographs, subject files, printed materials, money, and military memorabilia. There are photographs and picture postcards of the Imperial family, of soldiers (ca. 1890-1936), and of military reunions in exile. Units which turn up include the Caucasus Grenadiers Artillery Brigade, the Ninth Kiev Hussars, the Mikhaĭlov Artillery School, and the Tiflis Cadet Corps. Memorabilia include medals, ribbons, shoulder-boards, a red-blue-white Russian national flag, and guidons of the Ninth Kiev Hussars. There is also a painted icon (ca. 1920). Money includes an 1837 1 1/2 silver ruble piece, and a 1613-1913 Romanov commemorative coin, plus paper money.
Letters addressed to Roman Grynberg, and a few to his wife, Sophie. Included are 28 letters by Vladimir Nabokov (1943-63); 29 by Edmund Wilson (1943-70); 3 by Julian Tuwim (1944-47); 10 by Georgiĭ Adamovich (1962-64); and 1 by Vera Nabokova (1962). Also included are a poem by Nabokov"Romanu i Sone ot geroi︠a︡ 'Dara;'" a corrected galley proof by Wilson for the New Yorker"Seeing Chekhov Plain;" a typescript of a poem by Marina T︠S︡vetaeva, beginning "Zerna ognennogo t︠s︡veta;" and a series of poems, by Elena [Mikhaĭlovna?] Tager, written in the Soviet Union in 1946-54.
