The Academic Regalia collection contains robes, hoods, and caps worn by University of Rochester administrators, faculty, students, and trustees at formal events. Descriptions of regalia include the name of the manufacturer (Cotrell and Leonard, for example) when this information is known. Each set of regalia has been assigned a number, which appears before the title of the item(s).
The ADAM International Review Papers contain records from the University of Rochester's affiliation with the literary magazine ADAM. These materials date from 1968 to 1973. The papers also include photocopied manuscripts that the magazine's founder-editor, Miron Grindea, donated to the University. The collection is organized into five series: 1) correspondence, 2) distribution, 3) finances, 4) publicity, and 5) manuscripts.
Correspondence, programs, membership lists, etc., of Administrators Anonymous, a group of junior level University administrators who met regularly for a luncheon and speaker.
This collection includes Adviser's Handbooks from the 1971/1972 academic year to the present. Handbooks are organized alphabetically and cover topics such as academic honesty, grades, majors, and studying abroad. The last few pages of some handbooks provide advisers with examples of paperwork such as "add/drop" forms, requests for an incomplete grade, and approval forms for concentrations and minors. The collection also includes some copies of handbooks that have been annotated. In addition to the handbooks themselves, some folders contain correspondence, notes, and information about University programs. Starting in the 2015/2016 academic year, handbooks were produced in electronic form only; printed copies have been included in the collection.

The Atlantic Slave Trade Conference Collected Papers is organized in the order in which the papers were presented. Please note that some papers are drafts. The finished papers (with the exception of Fenoaltea's "Europe in the African Mirror") were published in the book The Atlantic Slave Trade: Effects on Economies, Societies, and Peoples in Africa, the Americas, and Europe, edited by Joseph E. Inikori and Stanley L. Engerman.
Contents include scripts, correspondence, and miscellaneous materials relating to the twelve radio programs, entitled Background of the War News, that Professor Arthur J. May of the University of Rochester Department of History gave over WHAM radio station in 1943. Script no. 11 is missing.

The scrapbooks were compiled in part by Brother Robert Elwell (Class of 1950), and they contain pictures, clippings, and captions covering subjects such as class pictures, football and other sports, social events, pledging, and Delta Upsilon involvement at the University of Rochester.

This photograph album created by Helen C. Hess (Class of 1933) contains images of the University of Rochester's Prince Street Campus, River Campus, Memorial Art Gallery, and Commencement 1933. It also contains photographs of downtown Rochester and a fire on Lake Avenue in 1935. A number of images show Hess and friends on trips to parks and other sites in the surrounding area, including Conesus Lake, the Adirondacks (for a state geologic field trip), Durand Eastman Park, Ellison Park, Roseland on Canandaigua Lake, Niagara Falls, Hemlock Lake Park, Powder Mills Park, Hamlin Beach Park, and Letchworth Park.

Hopeman chimes and carillon papers, 1926-2016 5.25 linear feet
Box 1 of the Hopeman Chimes and Carillon Papers contains material from various bellfoundries related to the purchase of the original chimes from 1926 to 1929. Boxes 2 and 3 deal mostly with the purchase, installation, and dedication ceremony for the carillon, while boxes 4-8 include information on the Bellman Society, the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, and concerts, as well as objects, brochures, and audio recordings. Box 9 and Box 10 include ephemera and publications related to concerts performed on the Hopeman Memorial Carillon. Box 11 and Box 12 contain administrative material related to maintaining the carillon and planning concerts. The collection also contains oversize materials such as posters and signs.
Institute of Applied Optics papers, 1917-1937 0.88 Cubic feet
Contains publications, correspondence, and other materials related to the development and formation of the Institute of Applied Optics. Publications include course bulletins and articles from other institutions in the early 1920s, optical journals, and Institute publicity. Topics of correspondence include hiring new faculty and the study of optometry at the Institute. Correspondents include President Rush Rhees, T. Russell Wilkins, and Edward Bausch. Some of this correspondence is contained in a binder that is labeled Optometry but also includes materials about other aspects of applied optics. Other materials include authorization forms requesting work from the optical shop signed by Brian O'Brien.

The collection contains a copied, commercially bound volume of "Amontillado's Arcanum" and a typescript of the story with page 6 missing (replaced with a photocopy). Both of these versions are dated October 31, 1945. The collection also includes research into the identity of the author from 1982-2004.
Institute of Optics: John Cushing Evans papers, 1962-1996 0.19 Cubic feet
The collection includes correspondence, photographs, and other materials relating to the Institute of Optics. Correspondence is mainly between Evans and University of Rochester President Dennis O'Brien and relates to papers written by President O'Brien. Photographs show Evans and optical equipment. Institute materials include lists of faculty and degrees. There is also information about the Industrial Associates Program, in which representatives from optics companies visit the Institute and meet with students and faculty.
The collection contains materials about the study of lens design at the Institute of Optics. These include papers written by Institute faculty members and course materials developed by Rudolf Kingslake. Also included is a Department of Defense publication about optical design. Most materials appear to be from the 1960s, though some are undated.

Materials related to History include research and reports, anniversary celebration information, and correspondence about the development of the Institute. Subjects of Photographs include people, buildings, and research experiments. Among the material in the Faculty/Staff series are letters from alumni to Helen Tobin, the first secretary to the director of the Institute, celebrating her retirement. Publications and Publicity include annotated copies of newsletters, an article about Todd AO (a widescreen process for motion pictures) and Brian O'Brien, and pamphlets on graduate study at the Institute. Industrial Associates Program contents include two binders with planning material. Summer Course Brochures, which begin in 1962, contain information about the various continuing-education courses offered by the Institute.
