The stocks represented in this collection were sold to aid the Oswego River Starch Company of Battle Island, New York [1858], and the Oswego Hotel Corporation of Oswego County [1911]. The most significant part of this collection are the imprints of the Oswego River Starch Company in the 1850’s.

The diary consists of transcripts of daily activities during Stowell's voyage west across the American continent. Mentions flooding in the Missouri River in the spring of 1850, the community of Great Salt Lake, and numerous other sites he encountered during his voyage. He also discusses his failure to "make it rich" and his return to Oswego by sea.

Dr. Stephen L. Weber worked to enhance faculty development, foster diversity and intercultural competence, make the campus more self-sufficient, improve service to the community, and enrich the natural and cultural environment of the campus. Weber saw the continued expansion of student numbers and academic offerings -- spearheading the creation the School of Business and the current version of the School of Education in 1992 from the Division of Professional Studies.
