The general files, minutes, and reports reflect the varied activities and interests of the League, including apportionment, court reform, education, and voting rights. The historical files contain photographs, printed materials, and memorabilia, filed chronologically. Also included are the periodicals and publications of the League, scrapbooks arranged chronologically, and "Mailbooks", or volumes of mimeographed reports and announcements which were sent to branches and board members. A collection of documents signed by American presidents and bound together in a single volume. Every president, except Eisenhower and Nixon, is represented in the collection. The documents, which are mostly military and naval appointments, certificates of merit, etc. are routine in nature, but an autographed copy (printed) of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's second inaugural address and a signed mimeographed copy of Lyndon Baines Johnson's speech to Congress, November 27, 1963, are also included.

The collection consiste of correspondence, memoranda, reports, bulletins, clippings, photographs, awards, and printed material. The files, arranged by genre and topic and reflect her philanthropic and legislative work in the areas of health, specifically cancer, heart disease, and mental health. Her civic and legislative work is covered in detail, as well as her private interests and activities.

Correspondence; manuscripts of books, chapters, addresses, lectures, articles, and other writings; clippings and other printed materials relating to Butler's life and career, and memorabilia, ca. 1900-1947. Also, correspondence, 1891-1946, between Butler and presidents of the United States including William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Harry S. Truman.

The collection includes seven volumes of scrapbooks containing clippings on current affairs roughly between 1939 and 1950 with particular reference to the trials of the German War Criminals at Nuremberg and the state of Germany after World War II. Also, general items on President Franklin Roosevelt and U.S. foreign policy. There are several complete copies of newspapers folded and inserted in the scrapbooks. The second and more important part of the collection consists of typescripts of Dr. Pfeiffenberger's writings. These occupy one and one-half manuscript boxes (Boxes 4 and 5). Included are about 45 pages of poetry in German, about 120 pages of selected stories of New York Life (in German), about 30 pages on The European State-System, 1848-1890 (in German), 127 pages of manuscript entitled "The Spirit of the Code of Hammurabi" (this is a preliminary draft in English of a short book or article by Pfeiffenberger), about 305 pages of typescript on "Compensation in the Western Zone of Germany" by Pfeiffenberger, Dr. H. Klein, and Dr. Klavehn-Berndt (there are many changes and notes in script, and this item is accompanied by another typescript of approximately the same size on the same subject), and several other items.

These papers contain photographs, correspondence, business records, research notes, and press clippings related to the career of Pare Lorentz, a documentary filmmaker and journalist.

Letters, invitations, documents, page proofs, photographs, lithographs, and books of Rosenman. Letters from political acquaintances including Benjamin Cardozo and W. Averell Harriman, to Rosenman and his wife, Dorothy, one letter by Henry Clay to H. Shaw 23 Sept. 1826 collected by Rosenman, invitations to official social functions, two sets of proofs for political pamphlets written by Rosenman on behalf of New York Governor Alfred E. Smith, photographic and lithographic portraits of political acquaintances signed and inscribed to Rosenman, including those of Dwight D. Eisenhower, W. Averell Harriman, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Harry S. Truman. Other correspondents include Charles A. Beard, Louis D. Brandeis, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Wendell Willkie. Also, thirteen books dealing with the Roosevelt administration signed and inscribed by the authors.

A collection of bookplates assembled by the bookplate designer and collector Sara Eugenia Blake (1886-1973). The collection also includes correspondence and greeting cards received by Blake in the course of her collecting activities, as well as books and pamphlets relating to the collecting of "ex libris" art.
