Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, subject files, case files and printed materials. Both incoming and outgoing correspondence is included. The correspondence is primarily addressed to Clark Foreman, Edith Tiger, Leonard Boudin, and Victor Rabinowitz. The subject files include records of the "Bill of Rights Journal" published by the NECLC along with dinners and the annual Tom Paine Award presentations. Recipients in the past have been Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, Shirley Chisolm, Dr. Benjamin Spock, Tom Smothers, Pete Hamill, and NECLC officers Edith Tiger, Leonard Boudin, and Clark Foreman

These files concern the publication of Anne Frank: the Diary of a Young Girl in 1952, the dramatization of this diary and the subsequent legal disputes with Meyer Levin over the play, and the motion picture made from the play. They also deal with the activities of the Anne Frank Foundation, primarily support for the renovation of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and the programs of the International Anne Frank Youth Center. These files include 145 letters from her father, Otto Frank, and letters from Alfred Kazin, Max Lerner, Meyer Levin, and Eleanor Roosevelt. There are also seven letters from Adela Rogers St. Johns and related materials about her own books and the 1963 volume of minutes of the Doubleday & Co. Publishing Committee.

The collection consiste of correspondence, memoranda, reports, bulletins, clippings, photographs, awards, and printed material. The files, arranged by genre and topic and reflect her philanthropic and legislative work in the areas of health, specifically cancer, heart disease, and mental health. Her civic and legislative work is covered in detail, as well as her private interests and activities.

Fry, Varian, 1907-1967

The collection includes the original manuscript of "Surrender on Demand", Mr. Fry's account of his wartime experiences, which was later rewritten for young readers as "Assignment Rescue" (New York, Four Winds Press, 1968). Among the correspondents represented in the collection are Marc Chagall, Jacques Lipchitz, Roger Baldwin, Norman Thomas, J. Edgar Hoover, and Herman Wouk. In addition to the material relating to the Emergency Relief Committee (later known as the International Rescue Committee), the collection includes correspondence and papers concerning Fry's work as a writer on foreign affairs as well as copies of his books.

Isaacs, Stanley M (Stanley Myer), 1882-1962

Correspondence, manuscripts, subject files, biographical material, photograph, personal property, audio cassettes, and memorabilia. Among the cataloged correspondence are letters from John Haynes Holmes, Fiorello Henry LaGuardia, Edith Kermit Roosevelt, and Eleanor Roosevelt. The arranged correspondence is filed chronologically with annual folders for materials from Isaacs' terms as Manhattan Borough President and bulk date folders for general, personal and topical correspondence. There is a file of correspondence with Mrs. Edith S. Isaacs concerning her biography of Stanley M. Isaacs"Love Affair with a City." Also includes manuscripts by her, and other material relating to her and her charitable work. Addresses, essays and lectures are included in the manuscript files. Among the subject files are campaign materials for the City Councilman elections, 1937, 1941, 1957, etc. There is a brochure from the Dedication of the East River Drive (June 18, 1940) and the New Municipal Asphalt Plant (May 24, 1944), as well as newspaper clippings and other printed political pamphlets and reports. The biographical materials include facts for speakers, personal legal papers and memorial statements. There are three photographs.
