The Rockefeller Foundation's earliest activity in Israel (formerly Palestine) was in the fields of malaria and hookworm control. During the 1930s, the Foundation also sponsored refugee scholars who were placed on the faculty of Hebrew University. Later grants were made in the fields of jaundice research and sex research.
