Included is a book of miscellaneous accounts (and some acquisitions, circulation, and binding records) of the late 1860s; a book of accounts with individual book dealers, 1886-1897; two account books from the turn of the century (one of which apparently contains some information relating to an early classification system); and an account book for Library of Congress printed cards, 1909-1916.
Box 1 consists of documents assembled and notes made by Donald B. Gilchrist for his "History of the University of Rochester Libraries" in 1937. Also included are other manuscript materials relating to the Library and its history. Some of these were removed from the University General file in the Department of Special Collections in September 1969.
