These papers document the career of an alumnus of the University of Buffalo Medical School (1909) who was deeply involved in the politics of medicine throughout his notable career. The collection contains personal and professional correspondence, reports and articles, speeches, and various other documents, including materials on the involvement of the American Medical Association in an anti-trust suit, the availability of records to patients, medical ethics and certification, malpractice, and workmen's compensation.

Charles Prospero Fagnani (1854-1940) was a Union Theological Seminary graduate of the class of 1882, an ordained Presbyterian minister, and a professor and professor emeritus of Old Testament languages and literatures at UTS from 1899-1926. The collection contains a speech given by Fagnani to the centennial celebration of the Société Asiatique in 1922, and related invitations, programs, ephemera, and notes from the event.

Papers include typed carbons of correspondence, memoirs, speeches, and biographical materials. The correspondence consists of letters to and from Crane, 1869-1939, and telegrams and letters to his wife upon his death. The memoirs include information on his diplomatic service and travels. The speeches, 1910-1930, are largely based on his travels and activities. There are diaries by other persons of his trips to Albania, Russia in 1921, and to the Near East. Finally, biographical materials include editorials, articles, and speeches. While a sizable amount of material concerns Russia, the collection includes information on his other activities as well.

Materials related to the Maine-Canada boundary controvery: over 400 letters, documents, reports, map, manuscript corrected proof of the Secretary of State's printed report to Congress, manuscript history of the controversy (published), lengthy analysis of the King of the Netherland's Decision as arbiter, as well as supporting material showing the life of a diplomat of the period in Europe.

The Chen Lifu papers (陳立夫檔案) mainly document his involvement in Chinese politics during the Republican era, dating from 1926 to 1989, with the bulk dates from 1926 to 1951. The papers consist of correspondence, portrait, meeting documents, reports, plans, speeches, writings, memoir, and printed materials. The papers focus on Chen Lifu's political career as the Head of the Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics and the Minister of Education, as well as his general involvement in politics dating from 1926 to 1949.
