The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) offers scholars and students a vibrant research and learning environment. We collect, preserve, and provide access to materials that document the history of our global society, including original manuscripts, photographs, architectural renderings, industrial design prototypes, graphic artworks, audio and moving image recordings, and much more. Today, the SCRC’s collections total approximately 150,000 printed items and over 30,000 linear feet of archival material in 2,400 separate collections, as well as the holdings of the renowned Belfer Audio Archive and the University Archives. Together, these collections offer unfiltered access to primary source material, the “authentic voice” of a writer or creator, from which scholars and students can develop their own views and create their own narratives.

Papers of the U.S. Senator from Maryland, 1881-1889 and 1903-1906. Collection includes correspondence (1838-1935); newspaper clippings (1884-1906); pamphlets, speech notes, Congressional printed material, and legal documents relating to Gorman's political career. Correspondents include Henry G. Davis and Thomas G. Hayes.

Hubbard, Robert J.
Collection of material relating to the real identity of Louis Anathe Muller, French exile and resident of Madison County, NY, 1806-1814. Muller's identity was variously postulated to be the Comte d'Artois (later Charles X of France); his son Charles Ferdinand, Duc de Berry; or Louis-Philippe. Material includes letters, signature tracings, deed of sale, and a reprint of an 1895 presentation to the Oneida Historical Society on the topic.

Papers of three members of a New York State family: Jonathan Pratt of Rushville, New York; his son, Dr. Jonathan Pratt, Jr.; Dr. Pratt's son Andrew Smith Pratt. Dr. Pratt resided in Hopewell, New York. Letters comment on issues of the period from 1821 to 1868 and family news about friends and relatives.

Family members represented include Anson Burlingame (1820-1870), a politician and diplomat; Edward L. Burlingame (1848-1922), author and editor; William Roger Burlingame (1889-1967), author, biographer, and novelist; and his wife, Angeline Whiton (d. 1967), a literary agent, known professionally as Ann Watkins. Notable correspondents include authors, poets, artists, etc.

Robertson, Constance Noyes.
Papers of the American novelist and author of books about the Oneida Community. Granddaughter of Oneida Community founder John Humphrey Noyes. Collection contains correspondence (1931-1972); manuscript articles and novels; research notes and drafts of articles, novels, speeches, stories; and memorabilia, including clippings, photographs, and reviews of her books. Some of the material relates to the Oneida Community and John Humphrey Noyes. Correspondence includes single letters of Carl Carmer and Alexander Wilder.
