The Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) offers scholars and students a vibrant research and learning environment. We collect, preserve, and provide access to materials that document the history of our global society, including original manuscripts, photographs, architectural renderings, industrial design prototypes, graphic artworks, audio and moving image recordings, and much more. Today, the SCRC’s collections total approximately 150,000 printed items and over 30,000 linear feet of archival material in 2,400 separate collections, as well as the holdings of the renowned Belfer Audio Archive and the University Archives. Together, these collections offer unfiltered access to primary source material, the “authentic voice” of a writer or creator, from which scholars and students can develop their own views and create their own narratives.
Papers of the American military officer. Powers was Assistant Chief of Operations, U.S. Strategic Air Forces, 1945; Assistant Task Force Commander for Air Operation Crossroads, Bikini Atoll, 1946; Vice-Commander of the Strategic Air Command, 1948-1954; Commander of the Air Research and Development Command, 1954-1957; and Commander-in-Chief of the Strategic Air Command, 1957-1964. Collection includes communications and writings (1945-1970), correspondence (1945-1970), memorabilia (1934-1970), and organizational records (1928-1969), mostly pertaining to the American Security Council. Notable correspondents include William F. Buckley, Lucius D. Clay, Carl T. Curtis, Donald W. Douglas, Ira Eaker, Joe Foss, Arthur Godfrey, Barry Goldwater, Roman L. Hruska, William R. Kintner, Curtis LeMay, Lyman L. Lemnitzer, Robert S. McNamara, Richard M. Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Francis Spellman, Lawrence Spivak, Stuart Symington, Lowell Thomas, Harry S. Truman, Nathan Twining, DeWitt Wallace, and Thomas D. White, among others.

American social worker, child and maternal health advocate. Extensive published and printed material has been cataloged. Manuscript collection contains correspondence-subject files, most relating to a decade-long grant-funded project, and writings of both Insley and her colleague Kazuye Kumabe.
Papers of the American economist, banker; advisor on trade issues to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Correspondence, memoranda, speeches, and government publications relating to Taylor's work as an investment banker and economic advisor. Includes material relating to commerce, foreign investment, and the National Planning Association.
Papers of the American educator specializing in geriatrics and gerontology. Collection includes correspondence, speeches, reports, newsletters, and material relating to the National Geriatrics Society and to the Indiana Commission on Aging and Aged.
American author, native of Troy, New York, who wrote a number of books about animals, some for young adults. Collection contains correspondence (1852-1970), business, personal, and family; book manscripts and galleys; genealogical material relating to the Barker family; scrapbooks; memorabilia, including calendars and photographs; and published material, including articles and pamphlets.
