Nikolaev, Aleksandr Mikhaĭlovich, 1876-1967

The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, memoirs, diaries, notes, subject files, documents, photographs, and printed materials. Most of the material in the collection concerns Nikolaev's tenure as military attachʹe at the Russian embassy in Washington. Cataloged correspondents include Mikhail T. Florinsky and Geroid T. Robinson. There is a typescript by Vasiliĭ O. Kli︠u︡chevskiĭ, "Kratkoe posobie po russkoĭ istorii." Among the correspondence are cablegrams and official communications to the Russian embassy during World War I and the revolutionary period. Manuscripts, mostly by Nikolaev, concern contemporary and historical military topics. Diaries and memoirs deal with Nikolaev's travels to Europe during World War I and his activities as military attachʹe. Among orders granted to Nikolaev is the "Order of the Sacred Treasure," signed and sealed by the Japanese Emperor Meiji (1911). Printed materials include many articles by Nikolaev.

Arkhangelʹskiĭ, Alekseĭ Petrovich, 1872-1959

Papers of General Alekseĭ Petrovich Arkhangelśkiĭ, consisting of correspondence, manuscripts, financial records, membership lists, photographs and miscellaneous printed materials. Most of the documents in the collection pertain to the activities of ROVS and its divisions and member organizations, especially its Fifth Section (Belgium), in the late 1920s and the 1930s and 1940s. The correspondence (1924-1954) is primarily between Arkhangelśkiĭ and other military officers, including A.I. Denikin, P.P.N. Krasnov, E.K. Miller, P.N. Wrangel, V.K. Vitkovskiĭ, I.A. Kholḿsen, P.A. Kusonskiĭ, P.K. Kondzerovskiĭ, E.S. Imnadze, etc. The manuscripts encompass official orders and pronouncements, information bulletins, speeches, announcements, manifestos, emigre military course instruction manuals and reports. Many of the latter deal with Soviet internal affairs and foreign policy. The collection also includes photographs, chiefly of White Army personnel in Yugoslavia in the early 1920s, miscellaneous printed materials, ROVS financial records for the period 1924-1926, various membership lists as well as 24 separate subject files, including materials on the founding of ROVS Fifth Section, ROVS activities in North America, Australia, and the Far East, the ROVS Court of Honor, the Russian Defense Corps (Russkiĭ Okhranyĭ Korpus) in Yugoslavia in World War II, the "Vnutrenni︠a︡i︠a︡ Linii︠a︡" and others.

Berkhman, Georgiĭ Ėduardovich, 1854-1929

Papers of General Georgiĭ E. Berkhman that consist of correspondence, subject files, maps and printed materials. Most of the collection concerns the Sarykamysh campaign against Turkey in late 1914, including telegrams, orders, reports, maps and books. There is also Berkhman's official service record, a brief memoir by his wife Elena Vasilévna, clippings, and copies of Tbilisi newspapers from January 1919.

Goshtovt, Georgiĭ Adamovich, ca. 1889-1953

Part of the collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, notes, military diaries, maps and printed materials that pertain to World War I. Some materials deal with the Civil War, Polish history, medieval Russia and Lithuania, and the history of Russian education. Several folders contain military orders, "prikazy", dating from the early 1900s to about 1925. There are also genealogical materials concerning Russian nobility and Goshtovt's family. The maps primarily concern World War I and the Civil War; also included are a postal map of Russia in 1860, and a map of transportation routes in 1887. The printed materials include clippings, and bulletins published by various emigre military organizations. Most of the books in the collection pertain to the German army during World War I.

Kozi︠u︡lḱin family

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents and printed materials chiefly concerning members of the Koziul'kin and Butskovskii families, specifically Nadezhda Aleksandrovna Koziul'kina, nʹee Butskovskaia, her husband, Ippolit Arkad'evich Koziul'kin and her grandfather, Mikhail Andreevich Butskovskii, the governor of Lublin province 1860-1880. The cataloged materials, in an album, include notes, autographs and music manuscripts of such individuals as Mattia Battistini, Aleksandr Glazunov, Jules Massenet, Anna Pavlova and Edouard do Reszke. The correspondence consists of personal letters to members of the Koziul'kin and Chivilev families as well as business correspondence from the 1860-1881 period concerning M. A. Butskovskii's real estate affairs. The documents include a variety of official birth, death, marriage and graduation announcements; awards given to I. A. Koziul'kin in both St. Petersburg and at the Russian Embassy in Teheran; contracts; insurance forms; military orders (1884) and reports (1878); real estate documents and I. A. Koziul'kin's service records. The printed materials deal primarily with financial affairs (such as accounts from the Governor General of Warsaw, 1898-1901) and real estate matters associated with M. A. Butskovskii's entailed estate, "Raets," in Radom province, including "Maioraty v tsarstve pol'skom" (1911).

Makhrov, Petr Semenovich, 1877-1964

Papers of Petr S. Makhrov, consisting primarily of extensive manuscript memoirs. Emigrating to France, he became a leading figure in the "Soviet patriotic" movement during and after World War II. His memoirs, in thousands of pages, discuss all aspects of his career. The papers also include correspondence, documents, photographs, and printed materials. There are orders (prikazy) from World War I and the Civil War, and reports and telegrams from his time in Poland. There is a copy of "Russkie v Gallipoli" autographed by Wrangel, and a photograph album entitled "Russkai︠a︡ armii︠a︡ na Balkanakh." Also included is the 1841 report of the director of the Imperial Military Academy in St. Petersburg, General Sukhozanet.
