The memoirs "Zheltye zvezdy" describe how Prokofév-Pylaev and his friends helped save Jews during the war, and how Jews served in Vlasov's army.

Manuscript memoirs of Boris Berin-Bei entitled "Zapiski sovetskogo kontslagernika" (143 p.). The memoirs concern his experiences in Soviet concentration camps in 1945-1956.

The papers consist of a memoir and printed materials. The memoir (22 p.) is by Melik-Ogandzhanova and covers her husband's life. Printed materials consist of uncirculated postcards from Manchuria under Japanese rule in 1935, copies of Harbin Russian newspapers from 1935, clippings, and a medical pamphlet by Melik-Ogandzhanova's daughter Tamara.

These typescript memoirs mainly concern the Imperial family and Petr A. Stolypin. Titles of the longer pieces are: "Moi vospominanii︠a︡ o E.I.V. Gosudare Imperatore Nikolae II;" "Svetloĭ pami︠a︡ti Imperatrit︠s︡y Aleksandry Fedorovny;" and "Pami︠a︡ti Petra Arkadévicha Stolypina." Also included is a letter by a French general, dated 1941, and a typescript by an unidentified woman, entitled"Nikolaĭ II kak i︠a︡ ego znala.".

Typescript memoir "Ekskursiia 51-ogo vypuska Gelsingforskoi Aleksandrovskoi Gimnazii v Estoniiu, 1927 god" that concerns Russian education in Finland and Estonia in the interwar period.

Typescript memoirs of Vozni︠u︡k-Burmin. The memoirs concern the activities of the NKVD in the late 1930's in the USSR. The first typescript (35 p.) is untitled and written under the name A Dneprovet︠s︡; it deals with events in the city of Dnepropetrovsk. The second typescript, entitled "Kak sozdai︠u︡t︠s︡i︠a︡ 'Sputniki'" (18 p.), discusses the NKVD's supervision of scientific research; it is written under the name A. Lunin.

Typescript memoirs by an unknown author (ca. 1915-) about the Soviet Union during World War II. The author discusses life in the Soviet Union in 1939-1941 and his experiences in the Red Army in 1942-1943. The memoirs end with his desertion from the Red Army after reading a "vlasovskai︠a︡ listovka" (Vlasov leaflet).

Manuscripts, a document, photographs and printed material of Voront︠s︡ev-Veli︠́a︡minov. The memoirs cover the 1917-1920 period, including his work in armament factories, his travels throughout Russia, and his eventual emigration to Serbia. There is a detailed curriculum vitae dated 1924, a number of photographs of Belgium, and several clippings and handwritten excerpts from newspaper articles.

Shilo-Nudzhaevskai︠a︡'s five brief manuscript memoirs (in all 28 p.) discuss the Civil War in the Ukraine and the Crimea, meetings with White general Shkuro, the evacuation of refugees to Turkey, the emigration in Bulgaria and France, and attempts to avoid the Soviet forces and return to France at the end of World War II.

The collection includes a three-part typescript copy of a diary by Kuzḿina-Karavaeva concerning the arrest of her husband by the Soviets and her years spent in Finland awaiting his return (1945-1954). Kuzḿin-Karavaev's memoirs include a four-part typescript memoir concerning his experiences as a prisoner in Soviet prison camps, a typescript memoir about his return to Finland, and memoirs on his childhood and Russian military education.

Photographs and a privately published memoir collected by Paul B. Anderson, YMCA official. Included are seven albums with photographs, taken by Charles Riley, from the YMCA mission in Siberia in 1920; and a privately published memoir Shifting Scenes in Siberia by Gail Berg Reitzel, discussing her experiences with the YMCA in Siberia in 1919-1920. Riley's albums specifically concern: the Czech legion, 1920; and YMCA service in Manchuria, Vladivostok, and Tomsk, 1920.

A magnetic sound tape with Ekaterina Grigor'evna Andresen's reminiscences about her childhood and adult life in Russia and the USSR, including about conditions under Stalin's rule in the mid-1930s.

Мemoirs that cover period before the revolution of 1905, peasant unrest and revolutionary activitiy in Riga in 1905, World War I, 1917 Revolution, and foreign intervention. There is also a memoir by one of Andrusova's uncle in German.

Manuscripts of Boris Petrovich Aprelev and his brother Iurii (Georgii). Included is a typed copy of Boris Aprelev's diary for 1915-1919, covering his service at Russian Imperial military headquarters, and his service in the Far East and in the Mediterranean. Also included are the memoirs of Iurii Aprelev (handwritten manuscript and typed copy) for 1917-1919 and handwritten and typed copies of a letter from Iurii to Boris Aprelev, describing the former's journey to the south in late 1917 to join the anti-Bolshevik forces.

Typescript of memoirs of Mikhail Nikolaevich Arkhipov. The memoirs deal with World War I, specifically with the Russian campaigns in western Poland and the Carpathians in 1914-1915, and with the effect of the 1917 revolution on the army.

Memoirs of Boris L'vovich Baikov. Included are: a manuscript memoir entitled "Skitaniia russkogo intelligenta v Persii", about his adventures there in 1920; an English translation of that work, entitled "My Adventures in Persia"; Baikov's published memoirs of the Civil War in the Transcaucasus "Vospominaniia o revoliutsii v Zakavkaz'i" (n.p., 1922?. Cataloged and removed from the collection: SEEC 2252 Folio); and a typescript by him entitled "The Aspirants for the Throne of the Tsars in the Russia of the Future."

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, and photographs of Bakunina. Most of the collection consists of letters from the period 1945-1974 by Bakunina's friends and relatives. Cataloged correspondence is from George Vernadsky (Bakunina's cousin), Vadim Rudnev, Sofii︠a︡ Panina, Petr Bit︠s︡illi, and Nikolaĭ Astrov; some of the letters are addressed to Bakunina's husband, Mikhail A. (d. 1962). Manuscripts include brief memoirs by Bakunina and her husband.

Two typescript memoirs: "Voennoinzhenernaiia komissiia russkogo pravitel'stva v Severo-Amerikanskikh Soedinennykh Shtatakh v Pervuiu mirovuiu voinu 1914-1917 g."; and "Iz Niu Iorka v Rossiiu i iz Sovetskoi Rossii v Niu Iork. Moe prebyvanie v Sovetskoi Rossii v 1917-1919 g. i ukhod iz nee" (combined ca. 50 p.). There are also two curricula vitae for Baldin, an offprint of an article on engineering and a typescript of an article on enginering by him.

Baranovskii's memoirs describe his youth in Chernigov province; the events of the revolution of 1905 there; his education at the Vil'no Military Academy; his peacetime military service and wartime service in East Prussia; the 1917 revolution and his service in the Volunteer Army during the Civil War; and emigration in Cyprus, Egypt, and Bulgaria.

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, subject files, and printed materials of Bark. Cataloged materials in this collection include letters from Metropolitan Evlogiĭ, Boris Bakhmeteff, and Petr Struve, and Bark's extensive memoirs. Much of the correspondence concerns the Civil War and attempts to gain Allied support for the White forces, and also Bark's career as an English in the 1930's. Subject files concern White governments in south Russia, and Bark's life. There are also two photographs of Bark.

These papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts, documents, subject files, photographs, and printed materials. Most of the collection concerns Bashmakov's ethnographical work in France in the 1920s and 1930s, including correspondence, many manuscripts, lectures, notes, and copies of his publications. Subject files concern emigre monarchism in France, and the death of Father Georgiĭ Spasskiĭ. There are copies of the Russian version of Bashmakova's memoirs, "Perezhitoe." Cataloged correspondence in the collection consists of letters from Petr Krasnov and one or two items each from Henry Field, Evgeniĭ Miller, Petr Wrangel, and Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev. There are also photographic slides representing ethnographical types from the Caucasus.

The papers of Bazilevskii consist of two letters to Bazilevskii from former Don Cossack Ataman General P. N. Krasnov, written in 1928, and a manuscript of memoirs by Bazilevskii, entitled "Poslednie dni beloi vlasti v Semirechie" (25 p.), describing the White campaigns around Orenburg and Semirechie.

The memoirs of Bekhteev consist of three stories which are apparently fictionalized history. The stories (ca.190 p.) deal with the period ca.1902-1917. The collection also includes an explanatory letter.

The collection consists primarily of manuscripts and clippings of articles and stories Bel'deninov wrote in the 1950s and 1960s and published in such emigre periodicals as "Russkii Put'", "Nashe Vremia" and "Rossiia". Several memoirs by Bel'deninov touch on such topics as his education in Irkutsk and St. Petersburg, his legal practice before and during the revolutionary period, and the Civil War in Siberia.

Typescript memoirs (118 p.) concerning Beliaev's work with the Empress Aleksandra during World War I in the Vserossiiskoe obshchestvo zdravnits v pamiat' voiny 1914-1915 godov, of which she was the president and he the secretary. This organization worked to help war victims and their families. Also included is a pamphlet by Beliaev "Po voprosu ob organizatsii pomoshchi postradavshim na voine i ikh semiam" (Petrograd, 1915).

Memoirs of Nikolaĭ S. and Sergeĭ S. Beli︠a︡ev that reveal details about their family, World War I and its aftermath, and the emigration to Finland.

There is also reminiscences about von Meck's family and people Belli saw in their home, including artist B. M. Kustodiev; actors L. V. Sobinov, A. V. Nezhdanova, I. A. Alchevskii; Ippolit Il'ich Tchaikovsky, brother of the composer, first leader of the boy scouts in Russia, and many others.

Typescript and manuscript memoirs that concern Belov's military education, his service in World War I, his forcible repatriation to the Soviet Union after World War II and his subsequent experiences in Soviet concentration camps.

Manuscript memoirs that discuss such topics as the Civil War in the Smolensk region and Siberia; the NEP period in Moscow; the terror of the 1930s; and World War II. Belozerov began the war as a technician in the Soviet army; was captured by the Germans in 1941. He later served in Russian auxiliary units on the German side, and in 1943-1944 was sent to France where he joined the French Catholic partisans.

Papers of Adam Pavlovich Benningsen and his wife Feofanii︠a︡ Vladimirovna Benningsen. This collection contains a substantial number of letters which Adam Benningsen wrote to his wife while serving with the White armies in South Russia during 1919-1921. The bulk of the collection consists of manuscripts by Adam Benningsen: a lengthy memoir of his service in the Tsar's army in World War I and in the White armies in the Civil War; diaries and draft memoirs relating to the same period; memoirs of the fall of France in 1940 and of his own imprisonment, apparently by the Germans, during World War II; and two short manuscripts containing theological reflections. A short memoir of the Revolution by Feofanii︠a︡ Benningsen ("Iz zapisok grafini F. V. Manuscripts include Benningsen's memoirs about Burt︠s︡ev, copies of Burt︠s︡ev's (apparently published) memoirs, and notes. Printed materials are chiefly clippings on various topics. There are also scattered issues of 1917 Russian newspapers ("Nash Vek," "Russkoe Slovo"), and an autographed copy of Burt︠s︡ev's 1919 edition of Griboedov's "Gore ot uma."

This collection consists of the college and World War II recollections of C. Ogden Beresford, Columbia College Class of 1943, and a collection of recordings by the dance band, the Columbia Blue Lions, from 1940-1941.

Papers of Evgeniia Il'inichna Berestovskaia, consisting of manuscripts, correspondence, personal documents, and photographs.

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, memorabilia, and printed materials concerning Berg's lifelong interest in and work for his alma mater. Berg served the University in many capacities such as vice-president and president of the Alumni Association of Columbia College, 1954-1958, and member of the board of directors of the Alumni Federation of Columbia University, 1946-1958. The correspondence deals chiefly with alumni affairs; some of the major correspondents include Harry J. Carman, Lawrence Chamberlain, Frank S. Hogan, Mr & Mrs Richard Rodgers, and Arthur Hays Sulzberger. Among the photographs are two signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower. Also included is a typescript memoir of Berg's three years as a student in the Columbia School of Law (1927). Berg collaborated with three other students on this memoir. Aaron Berg's correspondence with Dwight D. Eisenhower is at the Eisenhower Library. Also included are literary autographs and manuscripts purchased on the Aaron Berg Fund.

Manuscript memoirs of Artur Georgievich Bitenbinder concerning his military education, the 1905 Revolution, World War I, the Bolshevik Revolution, and the Civil War.

The collection primarily consists of a typescript (477 p.) that covers B. V. B'erkelund (Björklund) prison camp experiences in the Butyrskii, Lefortovo and Intinskii prisons from 1945-1955. The memoir includes related diagrams and printed items. Also included is a typescript memoir (140 p.) on B'erkelund's service in the Imperial Navy and the early years of the Revolution (1917-1919).

Manuscripts of businessman and Southern political writer Lewis Harvie Blair.

Papers of Aleksei Alekseevich Bobrinskoi include correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, postcards and printed materials. Correspondence include five postcards addressed to A. A. Bobrinskoi. Manuscripts consist of typescripts of A. A. Bobrinskoi's writings, including bio and memoir piece about his father; his radio scripts, article and letter of protest. Among the documents there are materials relating to the reimbursement to British citizens for debts and losses contracted in Russia, Russkii Natsional'nyi Komitet v Londone, medical prescriptions, business cards. Photographs include pictures of Benckendorff and Dolgorukii family members. Printed materials include genealogy of the Bobrinskoi family, periodicals, flyers, poster, clippings.

Collection consists largely of Bocharnikova's memoirs (typescript with holograph notes), which deal with World War I, the Revolution and Civil War, and her participation in the "Women's Death Battalion." There are also printed materials on female soldiers and sailors in World War I ("Voennaia byl'" - publication of the Obshche-Kadetskoe Ob'edinenie, No. 95, Jan. 1969; clippings from "Niva", 1917), personal photographs (1932, 1933), and picture postcards with 1917 scenes.

Correspondence, manuscripts, subject files, and printed materials of Afrikan P. Bogaevskiĭ. The bulk of the collection concerns emigre Cossacks in Europe, but there are also materials from the Civil War. There are letters from such White Generals as Petr Krasnov, Aleksandr Kutepov, and Petr Wrangel, and many letters from various persons to Bogaevskiĭ's widow after his death. Manuscripts include Bogaevskiĭ's addresses ("obrashchenii︠a︡") to the emigre Cossacks and his memoirs about the Cuban campaign of 1918. Subject files concern the Civil War, emigre Cossacks and related matters. Printed materials touch on Bogaevskiĭ's death and funeral.

Included are Bogrova's manuscript memoirs, which deal with such topics as her childhood, the Bogrov family, the Russian revolutionary movement, and the "Jewish Question" in Russia (the memoirs are also available on microfilm MN#: 2003-7005). There are also three documents relating to Grigorii Grigor'evich Bogrov, Bogrova's father-in-law and the father of Dmitrii Bogrov.

The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and printed materials. Most of the correspondence dates from the 1950s and early 1960s, when Boi︠a︡rint︠s︡ev was head of the Ob'edinenie chinov Kornilovskago udarnago polka, an emigre veterans' organization, and relates to the affairs of this and similar groups. The manuscripts include campaign memoirs and a memoir called, "Epokha 1937-1965 gg." dealingwith events in the world of the White veteran's groups written by Boi︠a︡rint︠s︡ev; and a memoir of the First World War by a Captain I︠A︡. G. Shinin. Official documents relating to the military service of both Boi︠a︡rint︠s︡ev and Shinin are found in the collection, as well as some regimental and army orders of the Revolution-Civil War period. There is a photograph of Genral L.G. Kornilov; a large number of photographs of the White Army encampment at Gallipoli, of the Imperial family, White officers' reunions, funerals, dedication ceremonies etc. Printed materials include: a folder of printed engravings of varied content (portraits of the Imperial family, White officers, members of the White Russian community in Shanghai; and illustrations of various incidents in the Civil War; a complete set through 1965 of the emigre newsletter "Kornilovt︠s︡y" (Nos. 1-6; 1952_65); 7 issues of the "Vestnik pervopokhodnika" (Nos. 82-91; Aug. '68-May '70); and books, pamphlets, and jubilee volumes concerning Tsar Nicholas II, the White movement, General Kornilov, and the Mladorossy.

Manuscripts and related materials on the siege of Port Arthur during the Russo-Japanese War, collected by Boris Ivanovich Bok. Typescript (337 p.) by Marii︠a︡ P. Bok describing her father, the Russian statesman Petr Stolypin. There is also a photograph of him, dated 1909. These memoirs have been published: "Vospominanii︠a︡ o moem ott︠s︡e" P. A. Stolypine (New York, 1953).

Papers that largely consist of Bol' to's memoirs, entitled "Puti i pereput'ia" (ca. 500 p.), which discuss his childhood on an estate near Vilnius, education, World War I, the Revolution and Civil War, and the emigration in Europe and Africa up to 1937. Also included are photocopies of a number of his personal documents, and a typescript of various reminiscences entitled "Takaia byla starina.".

The collection includes correspondence and manuscripts, as well as copies of documents. The correspondence of General Alekseev is represented by extracts from letters of the periord of the Russo-Japanese War, and by copies of both official and personal correspondence from 1917-1918. Also included are a few letters to K. V. Denikina answering requests for information about General Alekseev; these include 2 from his daughter V. M. Borel'. The largest part of the collection comprises manuscripts by M. K. Borel'; a lengthy memoir of the Civil War entitled "Za veru i vernost'". Other Civil War memoirs, a number of brief historical anecdotes and stories of an account of the battle of Mukden by a British journalist named Atteridge, and a memoir of 1917 Soviet Russia by Sergeĭ Novikov called "Konets rodnogo polka" complete the collection.

Typescript memoirs of A. A. Borman, entitled "Vospominaniia o strashnykh godakh (1917-1918)", and concern his activities during the Revolution and early Civil War. Also included are published English and Russian versions of a portion of his memoirs, concerning Petr Struve's escape from Soviet Russia in 1918.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files, and printed materials. The bulk of the correspondence consists of copies of reports and dispatches sent by Botkin to the Council of Ambassadors (in Paris) in 1919-1935. Also included are many letters to Botkin by Baron V. Osten-Saken, and Botkin's letterbooks for 1930-1934. Manuscripts include Botkin's memoirs. Extensive subject files concern Russian prisoners of war in World War I, the Civil War in the Baltic region, and the emigration in Germany in the 1920s and 1930s. Also included are miscellaneous materials relating to the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the 19th and early 20th centuries, including consular correspondence, departmental circulars, passports, and texts of treaties. There is a letter signed by the painter Orest Kiprenskii, and letters and documents signed by such officials as Aleksandr Izvol'skii, V. N. Lamzdorf, Ivan Paskevich, Sergei Sazonov, and Sergei Uvarov. These items were collected by Botkin.

The collection consists primarily of manuscripts by Bragin, including his memoirs, which describe his military service during the Boxer Rebellion, the Russo-Japanese War, World War I, the 1917 Revolution and the Civil War. The documents and subject file relate to his service as head of the White military mission to Iran in 1920. Printed materials are largely clippings from and copies of emigre periodicals, with articles by Bragin.

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials of Evgenii︠a︡ M. and Pavel A. Bri︠u︡nelli. The bulk of the collection consists of Mrs. Bri︠u︡nelli's 35 diaries, covering the years 1891-1956. The correspondence consists of letters from Mrs. Bri︠u︡nelli's sister in Leningrad from 1922 to the early 1940s. Pavel Bri︠u︡nelli's memoirs are on the emigration in France in the 1920s and 1930s. The printed materials are made up largely of his writings.

Typescript memoirs by A. M. Brofel'dt, entitled "Moi vospominaniia o sluzhbe v stavke verkhovnogo glavnokomanduiushchego: s avgusta 1916 goda po mart 1917 goda" (24 p.).

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials of General Aleksiei Alekseevich Brusilov and his wife Nadezhda Vladimirovna. The correspondence is largely copies of their letters from 1914-1918 and her correspondence after his death. The manuscripts include part of his memoirs and several of her minor manuscripts, including an incomplete memoir. There are family photographs as well as photographs of Brusilov in military dress. Printed materials relate to Brusilov's career in the Imperial and Red armies and his rehabilitation by the Soviets in the Khrushchev era.

Collection consists of typescripts of Emiliia Vitol'dovna Brusinskaya's reminiscences of Siberia in the late 19th century. There are also two newspaper clippings with her publications, 1 drawing, clipping with image of ballerina, and a brief essay (typescript) written by Konstantin Bruzinskii about his grandfather, Iakub Geishtor.

There are corrections and proofreaders' and typesetters' corrections and notes (made by the editor and publisher). The manuscripts were published, in abridged form, in 1981 as "Vospominaniia o Belom", ed. John E. Malmstad.

Two copies of a typescript memoir (51 p.) by G. Bukhantsov. The memoir concerns his experiences as a soldier in the Soviet army during World War II and as a prisoner in German camps in Poland and Germany.

This collection consists of two typescripts. The first is Buryshkin's doctoral thesis for an unidentified French institution in 1944, entitled "Les Sociʹetʹes Russes Nationalisʹees." The second is his memoirs about S. N. Tret'iakov, who became a Soviet agent in the emigration, entitled "S. N. Tret'iakov. Glava iz vospominanii".

The papers of Vasiliĭ F. Butenko (1894-1976), Russian émigré socialist and political activist, include correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs,and printed materials. The bulk of the collection relates to various émigré political organizations in which Butenko was involved: the Labor Peasant Party (Trudovai︠a︡ krestʹi︠a︡nskai︠a︡ partii︠a︡), the Russian Consolidated Mutual Aid Society in America (Russkoe obʺedinennoe obshchestvo vzaimopomoshchi v Amerike), the Anti-Bolshevik Struggle Coordinating Center (Koordinettsionnyi Tsentr Antibol'shevistskoi Bor'by or KTsAB), and others.

Three typescript memoiristic essays (112 p.) by Inna Konstantinovna Buttler, describing primarily her experiences in the Soviet Union during World War II, and to a lesser extent life in the Soviet Union during the 1930s.

The collection includes both Polish and German versions of Bykowska's memoirs covering the period 1939-1942. A shorter memoir discusses how she became a nurse in Poland before the war. There is also a photograph of pani Piechkowska (1942)

Correspondence, manuscripts, memorabilia, photographs, phonograph and tape recordings, and printed files. Included are Cerf's personal correspondence files, 1929-1945, and the diaries and scrapbooks which he maintained from his school days throughout his active career. The diaries, in date-book format, contain terse notes on Cerf's meetings with authors and friends, on his travels and publishing activities; the scrapbooks contain correspondence and photographs, as well as memorabilia and printed items, and were annotated by Cerf and his wife, Phyllis Fraser Cerf Wagner. Also in the collection are manuscripts and proofs for Cerf's books including "The Laugh's on Me""Treasury of Atrocious Puns""The Sound of Laughter""Stories to Make You Feel Better", and "At Random: the Reminiscences of Bennett Cerf", which was edited by Phyllis Cerf Wagner and Albert Erskine, 1977. The papers also include condolence letters written at the time of Cerf's death, photographs and photo albums,certificates and awards, and miscellaneous printed material, including Random House and Modern Library catalogues. Among the major correspondents are: Truman Capote, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Edna Ferber, Moss Hart, J. Edgar Hoover, Hubert Humphrey, Lyndon B. Johnson, John Lindsay, Joshua Logan, John O'Hara, Jacqueline Onassis, Richard Rodgers, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Gertrude Stein, Adlai Stevenson, Harry Truman, and Robert Penn Warren

The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, documents, and photographs, chiefly form the third quarter of the nineteenth century. There are also letters from Fedor Chechulin to his wife, from 1856-1865, in Swedish with later Russian translations; documents and other correspondence from 1847-1877; a manuscript about the family by Ekaterina Maĭdel;́ several family photographs; and a memoir by Polina Petrovna Chechulina about her experiences as a physical development instructor for the family of Grand Prince Konstantin Konstantinovich from about the end of the nineteenth century to World War I.

The collection includes two copies of a brief memoir of events during the Civil War in 1920, and three obituaries of Chelishchev from the newspaper "Russkaia Zhizn'" ́(San Francisco).

This collection includes original correspondence, reproductions, printed materials, and biographical information relating Chinese nationalist politician Chen Gongbo (Chen Gong-Bo, Chen Kung-Po, Ch'en Kung-Po, 陳公博).

The Leslie H. Dingyan Chen's Collection of Historiographic Materials for a Biography of Chen Chiung-Ming is a typescript publication published in 1988 documenting the life of Chen Jiongming as a revolutionary figure in the Guangdong province before and during the Republican period in China.

The Chen Lifu papers (陳立夫檔案) mainly document his involvement in Chinese politics during the Republican era, dating from 1926 to 1989, with the bulk dates from 1926 to 1951. The papers consist of correspondence, portrait, meeting documents, reports, plans, speeches, writings, memoir, and printed materials. The papers focus on Chen Lifu's political career as the Head of the Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics and the Minister of Education, as well as his general involvement in politics dating from 1926 to 1949.

Most of the collection relates either to the role of the Cossacks in the Revolution and Civil War or to the affairs of the Russian emigre community in the Far East. The largest item is a memoir by Vladimir Nikolaevich Gaevskii, the son of landowners in Voronezh guberniia, concerning his childhood. There are two memoirs of the Cossacks' activities during the revolutionary period, one by Cheremshanskii himself, the other by I. N. Oprits. Substantial subject files are devoted to the troubled affairs of the principal administrative body of the Shanghai Russian emigre community, the Russkii Emigrantskii Komitet, in 1939-1941. Other files are devoted to Ataman Grigorii Semenov and to emigre political organizations, the Brotherhood of Russian Truth (Bratstvo Russkoi Pravdy) and Russian facists. There is a single catalogued item, a 1937 letter from Vladimir Burtsev to Cheremshanskii proposing the creation of an anti-GPU organization.

The papers comprise Leonid Cherepe'nkin's recollection about bombing of Dresden during World War II, his poetry, postcards, and family photographs.

The collection consists of Cherkasskii's memoirs of World War I and the Civil War; brief memoirs by his father, Mikhail Alekseevich Cherkasskii, who served in the Imperial central government and as governor of Simbirsk before the 1917 Revolution; and manuscripts by other people, particularly G. N. Odintsov. There are also documents of I. M. Cherkasskii and photographs.

Typescript memoirs: "Donbass" (59 p.) concerns the Civil War in south Russia; "Moi berlinskie vpechatleniia. Aprel' 1945-iiul 1946" (74 p.) with Germany at the end of and after the World War II. There is also an open letter (6 p.) by Chevdar to the leaders of the Russian-American Aid Society (Russko-Amerikanskii Soiuz Pomoshchi).

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, a subject file, and printed materials. Much of the collection consists of manuscripts and memoirs by V. M. Andreevskii: his memoirs up to 1917; memoirs of a trip to Palestine in 1881; and his diary for 1919-1931. Also included is a typescript copy of the memoirs of historian Boris Chicherin, entitled "N.I. Krivtsov." Many of the printed materials concern the Orthodox Church in emigration. Another item, dated 1885, is: "Spravochnaia kniga (instruktsiia) dlia rukovodstva gorodovym i voobshche nizhnim politseiskim sluzhiteliam."

The bulk of the collection consists of memoirs and manuscripts on historical military themes by Pavel Nikolaevich Chizhov. The memoirs deal with such topics as Chizhov's military education, his military service (garrison duty in Warsaw, the Far East, World War I, and the Civil War in the south), and his life in the emigration.

The Chinese oral history project collection (中國口述歷史項目檔案) provides a wealth of information on the development of the project and its interviews with eminent Chinese political figures abroad in the United States and Hong Kong from 1958 to 1980s. The highlights of the collection consist of the administrative subject files, correspondence, interview photographs and reports, transcript drafts, collected autobiographies and manuscripts, audio recordings, and card files of names mentioned in the transcripts.

Papers include typed carbons of correspondence, memoirs, speeches, and biographical materials. The correspondence consists of letters to and from Crane, 1869-1939, and telegrams and letters to his wife upon his death. The memoirs include information on his diplomatic service and travels. The speeches, 1910-1930, are largely based on his travels and activities. There are diaries by other persons of his trips to Albania, Russia in 1921, and to the Near East. Finally, biographical materials include editorials, articles, and speeches. While a sizable amount of material concerns Russia, the collection includes information on his other activities as well.

The collection includes letters of an autobiographical nature; memoirs concerning the Civil War and emigration, the largest part of them entitled "Ot Gallipoli do Brazilii"; copies of photographs and drawings from the Civil War and the Russian emigre fascist movement in the 1930's; and one issue of Russkaia Gazeta (Saõ Paulo, 1935), edited by Dakhov. Manuscripts collected by David IUl'evich Dalin (Давид Юльевич Далин, David J. Dallin, born David Iul'evich Levin; 1889 – 1962), Menshevik leader, writer and lecturer on Soviet affairs, author of numerous works on the Soviet Union. These manuscripts are broken into two parts. The first consists of 15 autobiographical essays (8 in English, 7 in Russian) by Soviet displaced persons, discussing their life in the USSR and why they chose not to return there. The second part consists of 5 essays in English telling the stories of Soviet displaced persons from the point of view of another, unidentified narrator. Also included is a letter dated 2 Aug. 1943 from Povilas Zadeikis, a representative of Lithuania in the United States in 1934 – 1957.

There are letters from Russian emigre writers such as Mark Aldanov, Ekaterina Kuskova, Mikhail Osorgin, and Alekseĭ Remizov, and by western authors, including Henri Barbusse and Alexander Roda Roda. Manuscripts include memoirs, stories, and notebooks of Damanskai︠a︡. Printed materials consist of clippings of her articles, and one book by her entitled "Kartochnye domiki sovetskogo stroitelśtva" (1920).

Typescript memoir by P. V. Danil'chenko entitled "Moi vospominaniia o Velikom Kniaze Konstantine Konstantinoviche: k predstoiashchemu v 1958 godu stoletiiu so dnia ego rozhdeniia" (40 pages typescript). The memoir concerns cultural evenings organized by the Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich in the Izmaĭlovskii Guard Regiment and the 1914 production of the Grand Duke's play "Tsar' Iudeiskii" at the Court Theater in the Hermitage, for which Glazunov composed incidental music.

Collection includes correspondence of family and personal letters from 1902-1973, including typed excerpts of letters written by Daragan to his wife from the Murmansk-Arkhangelśk region during 1919-20. The remainder of the correspondence deals with Daragan's business and naval and religious topics. Manuscripts consist primarily of Daragan's memoirs of his youth, family and naval experiences in northern Russia. There are family documents, the earliest of which dates from 1762, and family financial records. Other printed materials include two pre-World War I theater programs from St. Petersburg and Moscow. There are also photographs of the Daragan family, dating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
