This collection contains nearly sixty letters by Ball to his wife, Lois, in Rochester, and to several others. They were written between March 31 and December 10, 1918 while on ship and as he served in the Personnel Department of the YMCA in Paris during the First World War. He writes of his work and experiences, responds to news in his wife's letters, asks for news of various kinds, and sends his love to his wife and children.

The Loren (Bill) Smith collection consists of letters written by Smith to his parents, who lived on Pontiac Drive in Rochester, New York, during World War II. The letters begin in March of 1941, and continue through the end of the war. There are a few letters written by Smith between 1953-1957, when he worked as a cook in various restaurants.
The collection consists of family correspondence and correspondence and material relating to student life at Geneva Medical College, Livingston County politics, especially the campaign of 1874, the Republican party, Ames' experiences during the Civil War in Virginia, the sanitary drainage project in Mt. Morris and Livingston County, and Dr. Ames' professional connection with the Medical College of Syracuse University. There are also manuscript copies of addresses to the Livingston County Medical Society, a newspaper article of reminiscences, admission cards to lectures at Geneva Medical College, and one bound volume containing records of the Mt. Morris Anti-Slavery Society and the Liberty Party Association of Mt. Morris.

The original collection consists of boxes containing articles, correspondence, photographs, and other materials, related mostly to Lasagna's medical career, but also to his personal life. The collection retains the chronological order established by Lasagna. The addition to the Lasagna Papers consists of subject files and video tapes.
