Totleben, Ėduard Ivanovich, graf, 1818-1884

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents and photographs of Count Eduard Ivanovich Totleben, Russian Fortification Engineer, General of Imperial Russian Army. The correspondence includes one letter from Tsar ́Alexander II, two from Dmitrii Alekseevich Miliutin, a draft of a letter Totleben sent to the Tsar, several invitations to official functions and a bound volume containing Totleben's letters to his wife written during the Crimean War. The manuscripts comprise nine volumes of Totleben's diary entries from the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878. Among the documents are diplomas and awards received by Totleben and a copy of his service record. There are several photographs of Totleben and other officers, including N. K. Shilder. Also included are the memoirs of Eduard Totleben's son, Nikolai Eduardovich Totleben, titled Vospominaniia Fligel'-Adiutanta. Al. Savelʹev's book Istoricheskīĭ ocherk Inzhenernago upravlenīi︠a︡ v Rossīi with author's inscription to ̇Eduard Ivanovich Totleben ("Ego siiatel'stvu Eduardu Ivanovichu Totlebenu. Gluboko priznatelʹnyi avtor") was removed from the collection and cataloged.

Documents and a letter collected by Elena A. Popandopulo: a 1728 Italian military commission signed by Salvator, Duke of Sforza; a 1729 petition signed by Aleksandr Stroganov; a blank sheet of official document paper from the time of Tsar Nicholas I; an 1861 Russian document; an 1879 document signed by Tsar Alexander II; and a 1906 letter to a Countess Ekaterina Aleksandrovna concerning an art exhibit in the Tauride Palace.

Dlotovskiĭ, Erast Konstantinovich

Collection includes documents granting Dlotovskiĭ promotions and decorations, some signed by Nicholas I, Alexander II, and Alexander II's Minister of War, Dmitriĭ A. Mili︠u︡tin. Also included are a history of the Cuirassier regiment by Dlotovskiĭ, and a memorandum he wrote on the possibility of setting up a Staff for Irregular Troops.

Staal, Georges Frédéric Charles, baron, 1822-1907

Correspondence, manuscripts and documents of Staal. Cataloged correspondence consists of a few items by Aleksandr Gorchakov and Philippe, Comte de Paris. There are many letters to Staal from Marie, Duchess of Wurtemberg, and Olga, Queen of Wurtemberg. There is a long series of drafts of letters by Staal to N.K. Giers, another high ranking Russian diplomat. Manuscripts consist of diplomatic reports, chiefly on Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Egypt and Russia in the 1870's. Documents include items signed by Tsar Alexander II and King George I of Greece, and Staal's personal financial records.
