The Office of Reports, Office Files of Richard Magat were transferred to the Ford Foundation Archives with Office of Reports files in at least five separate sections between 1982 and 1986. Because there was no discernible distinction between Mr. Magat's office files and Office of Reports records, the decision was made to define as his office files only those files that were clearly created and maintained by Mr. Magat. Additional "Magat files" are interspersed in Office of Reports records. Mr. Magat also served as Special Assistant to the Mayor's Panel on Decentralization of New York City Schools. In 1979 Mr. Magat donated his Panel papers to the Ford Foundation Archives. These papers are included in this collection (Series IV). The Office Files of Richard Magat cover the years 1961-82 and consist of chronological files, inter-office memoranda, correspondence and some printed material. The files measure 9.25 linear feet.
