The mission of the Archives is to serve as a centralized resource for historical information about the Society and as a repository for the important archival materials it acquires. Records housed in the ANS Archives document the history and development of the Society, its collections, exhibitions, and programs, as well as the contributions of individuals and groups associated with the Society they are unique and irreplaceable assets.
Development records, including those relating to fund raising; coin, library, and cash donations; annual and planned giving; bequests; endowment campaigns; and grant applications. Also, membership records such as those pertaining to meetings and events; correspondence on membership status; membership data; publicity materials such as press releases, circulars, and other promotional materials; and membership publications like the ANS Newsletter and Magazine, including photographs.
Includes accounting and banking materials such as account books, bills and receipts, treasurer correspondence, and other materials relating to the financial functioning of the ANS.
