The collection consists primarily of Underwood's pen-and-ink designs for these articles, with manuscript captions and notes to the printer; and illustrations for children's stories which appeared in THE SUN, ca. 1905-1910, together with typescripts, proofs, and printed copies of the stories, several of which are by Underwood. The collection also includes correspondence relating to a projected series of costume designs for THE LADIES' HOME JOURNAL, a manuscript of a work on geography, and scrapbooks and clippings relating to these projects.

Budd Termin was the head coach for the University at Buffalo's Men's Swimming and Diving Team from 1987-2007. His papers include manuscript for graduate thesis, coaching files, research papers and manuscripts in swimmer physiology and training, awards and honors, and extensive photographic images.

This collections consists of records and publications from the Western New York Section of the American Chemical Society dating from its inception in 1896.

The collection includes correspondence, memoirs, organizational records, and printed materials. The correspondence -- which covers the 1923-1963 period -- concerns the activities of a number of emigre Cossack groups, scout groups and anti-Communist organizations throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. There is a two volume memoir written by P.P. Cherepanov, a member of the Tiflis Cadet Corps. The organizational records include accounts, membership lists, poems and songs, protocols and receipts, chiefly for the Tiflis Cadet Corps. Among the printed materials are issues of emigre and Cossack publications (such as "Bodrost,́" "Mikhaĭlovt︠s︡y" and "Rodimyĭ kraĭ") and ten folders of clippings about Cossack events and members. One of the scrapbooks contains guest lists of various events, clippings and photographs (including photographs from the filming of a 1920s production of "Khadzhi Murat"), while the other scrapbook has records of Cossack events and a number of original watercolors.

Austin Strong's mother, Isobel Field, was the step-daughter of Robert Louis Stevenson. Consequently, the collection contains much Stevensoniana, including photographs and Isobel Field's letters from Western Samoa, where she was known as "Teuila." Also, correspondence and photographs relating to Cornwall Park, Auckland, New Zealand, which was designed by Austin Strong.

Correspondence, financial records, and legal documents of the Barnard family of Sheffield, Massachusetts. Frederick A. P. Barnard (1809-1889) was President of Columbia College from 1864-1889. His brother John Gross Barnard (1815-1882) was a career officer in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers who served as a Brevet Major General for the Union during the Civil War. Anna Eliza Barnard was John Gross Barnard's second wife, who raised four children and managed the family's affairs during her husband's last illness, 1879-1882. Augustus Porter Barnard, the son of John G. Barnard and his first wife, was a mining engineer.

Letters, manuscripts, and documents of the Bruce family concerning the business affairs of the George Bruce & Company Type Foundry of New York City. There are seven letters of David Bruce, Jr., his biography of David Bruce, Sr., and other manuscripts and letters concerning his invention of the first successful type-casting machine as well as the patent agreements for the invention. Also, a group of ten letters from Thomas N. Rooker of the NEW YORK TRIBUNE to David Wolfe Bruce (1824-1895). There are several letters which relate to George Bruce (1781-1866), the founder of Bruce Type Foundry, as well as his manuscripts on printing and related fields. The collection also contains material relating to the Bruce entry in the Paris Universal Exposition of 1867, the financial records of the firm, miscellaneous correspondence with other printers, and type specimens. In addition, there is a scrapbook of memorabilia containing clippings, receipts, typographic magazines, and specimens of printing.

William Fulbright, Hellmut Lehman-Haupt, and Wayne Morse. Also included are two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings on Mormonism belonging to one of Hathaway's ancestors, Jean G. Hathaway.

The collection of papers is about drugs and drug related crimes in the United States. It is written by Carleton P. Simon. Simon is a psychiatrist by profession and is very much interested in crimes. This passion led to his next profession as a criminlogist. His writings focus on crimes and examine the motives behind the crimes. Simons has also written fiction magazines and poems.

The collection is actively growing, primarily through regular document transfers from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. In addition, his pre-1911 gifts, most notably his donations for libraries and church organs, can be found on microfilm (Series II), in the Home Trust Company Records (VI.A), and Financial Record Books (I.C.1). Grant files (Series III.A), which comprise the bulk of the collection) provide information on projects and institutions founded, endowed or supported by the Corporation. The Special Initiatives series (Series IV) contains the records of task forces, commissions and councils, formed by the Corporation mostly during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s to address specific issues. There is a album, compiled by Cecile of celebrated actors and musicials, and a odd volume titled "Thru the Rye with the Harold Lehmans" chronicling the before and after effects of alcohol (humorous).

Chemist, Professor, and President of the New York Metropolitan Board of Health. Professor Chandler taught at Union College before joining the faculty of Columbia University where he taught in the Chemical Department, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, and served as one of the founders and long-time Dean of Columbia University's School of Mines. He was interested in Industrial Chemistry and Public Health, serving on the New York Metropolitan Board of Health for many years and implementing a number of significant public health and public housing reforms.

Charles Weidman (1901-1975) was a dancer, choreographer, and teacher known for his roles as a member of the Denishawn Company, and later for founding his own companies: the Humphrey-Weidman Concert Company, Theatre Dance Company, and An Expression of Two Arts. The additions to the Charles Weidman papers contain material related to choreographed works he performed with the Theatre Dance Company and An Expression of Two Arts; files representing his time with the Denishawn Dancers; photographs; and scrapbooks.

There are manuscript versions for many of Harrison's novels and stories, some of which are unpublished. Scrapbooks consist primarily of newspaper clippings relating to his books, public housing, labor relations, and socialism. Also, copies of some of his books in various editions and translations.

This small collection contains primarily Detwiller's student drawings, notes, course materials, books, class photographs, and graduation announcements from the period of his study at Columbia University from 1881 to 1885. These materials are supplemented by a small group of Detwiller's childhood sketchbooks, drawings and office papers created by Detwiller during his practice as a professional architect, and other scrapbooks and ephemeral items relating to Detwiller's family and personal interests, spanning the years 1874 to 1940.

Chester Weinberg (1931-1985) graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1951 and served as visiting lecturer on fashion design there from 1955 to 1985. Weinberg established his own label in 1966. He later became a consultant and was named design director of Calvin Klein jeans in 1981. The collection contains a scrapbook of news clippings, fashion print ads, and photographs mainly chronicling Weinberg's work from 1966 to 1975.

Among the letters are several each from Countee Cullen, Frederick Douglass, Alexander Dumas, fils, William Lloyd Garrison, Claude McKay, Abraham Lincoln, Henry Mencken, William Pickens, Albert A. Smith, and Booker T. Washington. Also, eighteen slavery documents.

A miscellaneous collection of World War II propaganda and memorabilia. Among the European items are samples of propaganda dropped from Allied aircraft, clippings, cartoons, and other printed ephemera in English, French, German, and Russian. For the war in the Pacific there is a complete set of Japanese language leaflets issued by the United States Army Forces, Pacific Area, Psychological Warfare Branch. These leaflets, including English translations, were used by General Douglas MacArthur's forces to induce the Japanese to surrender. In addition there is a collection of forty-eight German books removed from a German military field library and warehouse in France by American Army personnel. These works were revised during the 1930s to reflect the Nazi viewpoint. Also, a scrapbook of photographs and newspaper clippings on the laying of the cornerstone for a home for expectant mothers in Römhild (Thuringia) Germany, 1939.

Columbia University theatrical groups include The Columbia Laboratory Players, The Columbia College Dramatic Group, The Wigs and Cues, The Summer Session Classes in Play Production, The Morningside Players, and the Columbia Theatre Associates which superseded all the preceding groups. There is an extensive file on the Columbia Laboratory Players; including production files that document the various stages involved in putting together a dramatic production. In addition there are typewritten scripts representing the spectrum of plays that were produced over the Lab's active years. There are photographs of only a few specific plays. Non Lab materials relate to Rehersal Course productions, a Columbia English Department course that was closely affiliated with the Lab players

Correspondence, notes, and manuscripts including items that relate to most of Agnew's professional activities, are especially rich in materials that deal with the treatment of eye diseases during the latter half of the 19th century. An interesting sidelight of the collection is a group of finely detailed woodblocks and steel plates that Agnew used to illustrate his published articles.

Liubimov scrapbooks from the emigration include notes and clippings on various topics. There are materials relating to the activities of his wife, Liudmila Ivanovna, as representative of the Russian Red Cross in Poland in 1919-1922, including correspondence and a photograph album.

Of his many inventions and developments, the most important are: 1) the regenerative or feedback circuit, 1912, the first amplified radio reception, 2) the superheterodyne circuit, 1918, the basis of modern radio and radar, 3) superregeneration, 1922, a very simple, high-power receiver now used in emergency mobile service, and 4) frequency modulation - FM, 1933, static-free radio reception of high fidelity. More than half the files concern his many lawsuits, primarily with Radio Corporation of America, over infringement of the Armstrong patents. Litigation continued until 1967. Other files deal with his work in the Marcellus Hartley Research Laboratory at Columbia University, 1913-1935, and with the American Expeditionary Forces in France during World War I, his Air Force contracts for communications development, Army research during World War II, the Radio Club of America, the Institute of Radio Engineers, FM development at his radio station at Alpine, N.J., the use of FM in television, his involvement in Federal Communications Commission hearings and legislation, and his work with the Zenith Radio Corporation. Correspondents include Catherine Andrassy Karolyi, Mihaly Karolyi, H.L. Mencken, Ferenc Molnʹar and Leo Szilard. Of special note are Lengyel's extensive autobiographical writings, also outlines and manuscripts of his books including the unpublished "By Their Flame." There are clippings and photocopies of printed articles by Lengyel in English and Hungarian, published biographical information, book reviews and lecture programs. A series of scrapbooks contains clippings on the politics of Europe from 1920 to 1950.

This collection contains reprographic architectural drawings for the Empire State Building; photographs of the demolition of the original Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, which occupied the Fifth Avenue site; photographs of the Empire State Building under construction, circa 1930-1931 (one photograph shows former governor Alfred E. The collection consists of a small amount of correspondence (1942-1948) which revolves almost exclusively around Ernest Rope's efforts to teach Russian affairs at U.S. universities; one folder of personal documents, including letters of appointment, citations of merit, identity cards, and other items; manuscripts of articles and of a book length volume entitled "The Russia I have known;" and a diary, together with a photo-album, detailing his work in northern Russia and Estonia on behalf of the YMCA. The diary abounds with references to political and military events in northern Russia during the years 1919-1921.

The Ernest I. Hatfield Papers document Hatfield's service in the New York State Senate, where he served from 1948-1964, and the years immediately following. The collection includes correspondence, scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, speeches, and bills he introduced.

There are manuscripts for his articles, lectures and speeches as well as clipping files of book reviews and articles by and about Jäckh in the European and North American press. The bulk of the collection is written and printed in German and deals with the Balkans and the Near East before 1920, including the Balkan War of 1912-1914, and the Turkish Revolution. Of particular interest are manuscripts and articles describing his land travels between 1903 and 1913 with the German fleet and on hot air balloons. Other topics covered include the Hocjschule für Politik, German labor unions, German-European relations, European attitudes towards the United States, and his literary works. There are also some manuscripts dealing with the Balkans and the Near East during World War II. An extensive file of photographs depicts, Albania, Asia Minor, Baghdad, the Balkans, Constantinople, Genoa, the German naval fleet, the Hochschule für Politik, hot air balloons, Italy, the Mediterranean, Turkey, the Turkish Revolution, the United States, Versailles, and Weimar. There are books from Jäckh's library, some with marginal notes, some signed and inscribed to him as well as copies of his own works.

Among the correspondence are Stephen Wise, Theodore Kolleck, Ernest Bloch, and Leonard Bernstein. The collection also includes papers relating to Frank and Ethel Cohen's personal (i.e., non-ESCO) Zionist and Jewish interests.

The correspondence concerns his published poetry, the leather tanning business, and family affairs. The diaries reflect his active business life and travels from 1864 until 1926. The four scrapbooks contain clippings of poetry, obituaries, local news of Lynn, Mass., World War I, and other subjects. Among the correspondents are Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Henry Cabot Lodge, Ellen Louise Chandler Moulton, Booker T. Washington, and John Greenleaf Whittier.

Eugene Paul Ullman (1877-1953), was an American painter of landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Ullman studied and later taught with artist William Merritt Chase during the earliest years of the Chase School, predecessor school to what became Parsons School of Design. The collection consists of artwork in the form of sketches and photographs of paintings, correspondence, exhibition catalogs, a scrapbook, and unpublished essay manuscripts. Much of the material is annotated by Ullman's youngest son, Pierre L. Ullman. Also included are files documenting the life of an older son, Paul Ullman, who was killed in France during the Second World War.

The Evangelical Alliance for the United States of America was a voluntary society for the promotion and manifestation of Christian unity, as well as the protection of religious liberty at home and abroad. Included in the collection are administrative records, correspondence, scrapbooks, and a photo album. Some records are in other languages such as German and French.

The collection includes mostly drawings for Tudor's furniture designs and are arranged by drawing number. Notable projects include the design of the Interchemical Corporation offices, in collaboration with Robert Meyer, as well as the Vanadium Corporation of America offices. The collection also includes 9 sketchbooks. Sketchbooks #1-7 and #9 consist of drawings made by Tudor while likely an apprentice. Sketchbook #8 contains drawings made while working for White, Allom & Co. Notable clients include "Dr. A", "R.G.L." The scrapbook contains clippings and photographs presumably from his professional practice as some of the photographs are labeled "E.J. Tudor." Notable projects include the Rolling Rock Club (Pennsylvania), Dixon House (unknown location), Hampton Court (England), Whitemarsh Hall (England), Mellon Institute (Pittsburgh) and Henry C. Frick (New York). Other papers include correspondence related to the design of the Interchemical Corporation offices, collected print material, 21 photo negatives depicting various travel sites and 13 color charts arranged by manufacturer. The collection also contains lantern slides, which were used by Tudor to teach interior design at New York University. The slides show architectural views and details particularly English, French and American designs as well as interior views, details and furniture.

Consists of 19 scrapbooks containing more than 10,000 prints of fashion illustrations produced between the early 1800s and 1913. The prints primarily depict clothing and accessories designs, with a few depicting theatrical costumes, architectural and sculptural details, and textile designs. Many images were issued as portfolio prints, others cut from books and periodicals, such as Graham's Magazine and Godey's Lady's Book and Magazine.

The correspondence, speeches, and other material relate primarily to his activities as District Attorney, and to his unsuccessful campaign for the U.S. Senate, 1958. The papers also reflect Hogan's deep concern for Columbia University, as a Trustee and a member of numerous alumni committees. Among the major correspondents are Harry J. Carman, Dwight David Eisenhower, Robert F. Kennedy, Arthur Hays Sulzburger, and Herbert Bayard Swope.

The main portion of the collection is made up of letters, documents, notes, manuscript and typescript articles and speeches, and scrapbooks and notebooks which are contained in 270 envelopes, folders, manuscript boxes, and bundles. Another 153 bundles, boxes, folders, and envelopes are devoted chiefly to clippings, tear sheets, pamphlets, and books and other printed matter. Proofs of the printing plates for one of Mr. Bancroft's works on Carl Schurz are preserved in eleven envelopes. Pictorial material includes two envelopes of photographs, one envelope of photostats, thirty-four photographs, and eighty-five framed photographs, many with manuscript letters by or relating to the subject of the photograph. The collection is rich in the papers and personal correspondence of Frederic Bancroft and includes notes and various other source materials for his books dealing largely with African Americans, the South, the Civil War, Seward, Calhoun, and the life and work of Carl Schurz. Also, a wealth of material by and about Edgar Bancroft (1857-1925), Frederic's brother and U.S. ambassador to Japan.
