Materials related to Aerial Magazine, a poetry magazine founded by Rod Smith in 1984, that focuses on avant garde and experimental poetry. The collection includes submissions of poems related to Ariel/Aerial issues one through nine, letters to the editor, promotional material, financial records, and other printed materials.

The Alcheringa Collection spans the entire history of the magazine, including approximately 100 manuscript items representing a broad range of the poetry, articles, and reviews that were published; approximately 200 letters and 46 postcards from internationally known poets, anthropologists and folklorists including Michael Corr, Robert Creeley, Ted Enslin, Jerome Rothenberg, Gary Snyder, Nathaniel Tarn, and Dennis Tedlock; approximately 1,219 items of business records including subscription lists, permissions, budget reports, advertising information, copyrights, requisitions, correspondence with other magazines, and other related documents; and miscellaneous photographs and peripherals.

The Amiri Baraka Papers contains correspondence, writings, and the personal, political activism and teaching materials related to Amiri Baraka's career as a poet, writer, editor, activist, and teacher in the New York City Beat, Downtown, and Black Arts literary scenes from the 1960s through the 2000s. Included are manuscripts from Baraka's numerous books of poetry, non-fiction, fiction, plays, editorial work, and screenplays. The collection also features organizational and documentary materials relating to Baraka's university teaching and Newark, NJ-based Black radical activism, as well as audio/visual material, photographs, and printed material collected and created by Baraka.

The Athanor collection contains all of the papers relating to the publishing history of the magazine including manuscript submissions, editor's correspondence, and business documents.

The Barry Miles Papers contains correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials concerned with Miles' literary activities in the London counterculture. Included are letters and manuscripts from William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, among numerous others. This collection also includes material used by Miles in the research and writing of his work Ginsberg: A Biography as well as from his editorship of the annotated edition of Ginsberg's Howl.

The Drafting Collection contains correspondence and assemblage poetry submissions to Kevin Thurston from 1997-2006. Of particular note is the original artwork, poetry, manuscript material, and periodicals.

The First Intensity Collection contains the editorial correspondence for Lee Chapman's literary magazine from 1992 to 2007. Correspondence contains poetry submissions, page proofs, reviews, and articles from poets featured in First Intensity.

The Hettie Jones Papers contains correspondence, writings, and teaching materials related to Hettie Jones' career as a writer, editor, and teacher in the New York City Beat and Downtown literary scene, from the 1960s through the 2000s. Included are manuscripts from Jones' numerous books of poetry and children's and young adult novels, as well as her 1990 autobiography, How I Became Hettie Jones. The collection also features materials from her time as co-editor of Totem Press and Yugen literary journal. A small amount of material pertaining to Jones' former husband, the poet LeRoi Jones/Amiri Baraka, including unpublished early manuscripts and photographs is also here.

The Kavyayantra Collection contains materials from the Kavyayantra Press including letterpress proofs, galleys, broadsides, and book covers, created both independently and in letterpress courses at Naropa University, and featuring the work of poets associated with Naropa.

The Kenneth Warren collection consists of materials related to the work of Kenneth Warren with the majority related to the journal House Organ. Kenneth Warren was the editor and publisher of the poetry journal House Organ as well as the director of Lakewood Public Library. The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, drafts, and other related materials.
