The Paul Hoeffler "Rochester Jazz" photographic print collection provides a unique commentary on Rochester history in the 1950s and 1960s. In addition to the nearly 200 fine art (exhibition) prints, the collection also consists of posters, media reviews, reproductions, cd recordings, album art, and exhibit materials.

The Paul Leser Papers document not only the life and career of anthropologist Paul Leser, but also contain materials pertaining to Leser's sister, Maria Lingemann and her husband Heinrich Lingemann, and earlier members of the Leser family. Although the collection contains correspondence between Paul and his brother, Albert (Leser) Lestoque, a separate collection, the Albert (Leser) Lestoque Papers, held at the University at Albany's Department of Special Collections & Archives documents the life and career of Paul Leser's brother as well as providing additional Leser family documents and material.

Professional and personal papers of the German émigré scholar Paul Oskar Kristeller. Kristeller was a professor of philosophy at Columbia University and a world renowned scholar of Renaissance humanism and Renaissance philosophy who published widely, notably his major catalog of uncataloged manuscripts from the Italian Renaissance, the Iter Italicum.

Personal, academic, and legal correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and memoranda. Among the legal files, there is particular emphasis on labor and welfare law. The files also contain materials about his judicial appointment, the American Law Institute, the Columbia University School of Law, and the Project on International Procedure. Among the major correspondents are: James A. Farley, Arthur J. Goldberg, Philip C. Jessup, Robert F. Kennedy, Harold R. Medina, James A. Pike, and Lionel Trilling

Correspondence and inscribed photographs sent to Paul Palmer. Mr. Palmer has collected portraits of film and theater notables and other celebrities since the 1920s. Many of the photographs are inscribed to him and there is some correspondence as well as lobby display cards. Among the cataloged names are: Katharine Cornell, Lillian & Dorothy Gish, Rudyard Kipling, Gertrude Lawrence, Sir Compton Mackenzie, Mary Pickford, Constance & Norma Talmadge, Dame Sybil Thorndike, and H. G. Wells

The collection is comprised mainly of black and white professional photographs of masks, figures, weapons, utensils, musical instruments, and other objects from Africa and Oceania. There is also a smaller amount of Northwest American Indian art. The objects were photographed individually or in small groups against a plain background. The photos are in their original order, organized by region and then by specific location, ethnic or cultural group, and/or type of artifact. A few photos have individual labels, but most are labeled only with a handwritten number on the backing paper. There is no corresponding guide to the numbering system. Wingert was an avid photographer and the photos were likely taken by him, but are not signed. The collection also contains articles and book drafts by Wingert, copies of published articles and books by Wingert and others, original pen and ink illustrations of objects, additional photographs and negatives that do not seem to be part of the photo file, and small amounts of correspondence and other documents.

Finks' papers collected in Rare Books/Special Collections begin with writings by David Finks and then move to documentation of Finks' life and work, including material and some correspondence relating to Catholic Council of Urban Ministries, Campaign for Human Development, and the Downtown (Rochester) Community Forum. Next are Finks' personal records which are combined elements of both a journal and a scrapbook. Contained in binders, they are a combination of journal entries, articles, letters, cards, flyers, programs, and anything else that was meaningful to him. There are a few gaps, but the journals cover from 1985-2007. Finally, the last few boxes are articles and letters regarding people and issues, largely religious, of interest to Finks as well as personal correspondence and photographs.

The Peck Family Papers are primarily comprised of correspondence and photographs. The bulk of the letters are correspondence between Mary Gray Peck and her mother, Mary Diantha Gray Peck as well as letters from her father, Henry Jones Peck. The bulk of Mary Gray Peck’s letters were written while a student and depict the academic rigor and social life at Elmira Female College in Elmira, N.Y. and are followed by letters from her time in New York City and Minnesota, while teaching and studying at the University of Minnesota. Letters from Mary’s two brothers, James and Fred, including her sister-in-laws, are also represented in the collection. A number of the photographs were taken on the family farm in Phelps, N.Y. All members of the immediate family of Henry and Mary Diantha are in the collection, including a number of professional photographs of Mary Gray Peck and her friend and fellow suffragist, Frances Squire Potter. The papers document the history of a well-educated family from upstate New York in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century. Letters concerning the professional activities of the Peck children, including Mary Gray Peck’s involvement in the suffrage movement, though present, are at a minimum.
