Govorov, A. A. (Aleksandr Alekseevich)

Manuscript memoir ""Otdelnaia turkestanskaia konnogornaia artilleriiskaia batareia"(with typescript copy) (98 p.) that describes the operations of Govorov's unit in Turkestan during the Pamir expeditions (1892-94) and especially during World War I. The memoir is accompanied by maps drawn by Govorov.

Owie, Khristofor Aleksandrovich, 1884-1958

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, memoirs, minutes of meetings, documents, maps, photographs, and printed materials, mostly relating to World War I. Correspondence, mostly to Owie, includes a letter from Grand Duke Gavriĭl Konstantinovich. Memoirs are by Sergeĭ Konoplev concerning World War I, and manuscripts appear to be by Owie on the war and anti-Communist topics. Minutes are from the Society of Officers of the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the Life Guard (Leĭb-Gvardiĭ 3-iĭ strelkovyĭ polk). Maps, documents, and photographs deal mostly with Owie's service during World War I. Among the photographs is one of Nicholas II from 1913.

Skobelev, Mikhail Dmitrievich, 1843-1882

The papers consist of Skobelev's correspondence, manuscripts, documents, subject files, and printed materials. There are awards and documents of M. D. Skobelev, his father (Dmitrii Ivanovich), and his grandfather (Ivan Nikitich), both of whom were also generals. These documents include edicts signed by Russian Tsars Paul I, Alexander I, Nicholas I, and Alexander II, and by two Kings of Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm IV and Wilhelm I. There are also patents of nobility, military service records, and documents related to various military campaigns including maps. The correspondence primarily dates from 1870-1890 and consists mainly of letters received by Mikhail Skobelev and copies of letters which he wrote. Also included are incoming and outgoing letters of D. I. Skobelev. The manuscripts include essays, notes, drafts, memos on military affairs by M. D. Skobelev and other authors. There are subject files with materials about M. D. Skobelev, including printed materials such as newspapers and clippings. There are also files with materials related to activity of the Komitet imeni General-Ad'iutanta M. D. Skobeleva dlia vydachi posobii poteriavshim na voine sposobnost' k trudu voinam, and Osobaia Komissia dlia obsuzhdeniia voprosov ob ustroistve voennago upravleniia.

Chizhov, Pavel Nikolaevich, 1882-1961

The bulk of the collection consists of memoirs and manuscripts on historical military themes by Pavel Nikolaevich Chizhov. The memoirs deal with such topics as Chizhov's military education, his military service (garrison duty in Warsaw, the Far East, World War I, and the Civil War in the south), and his life in the emigration.

Semenovskiĭ Polk

The bulk of the collection concerns the last three decades of the Regiment's existence and the emigration. Cataloged items consist of 3 photographs of Tsar Nicholas II and a receipt signed by one Captain Lanta, dated 1720. The correspondence is almost all after 1917. The manuscripts include a history of the Regiment from its formation and some other historical pieces by Viktor I. Meshchaninov. Most of the other manuscripts -- chiefly officers' memoirs -- concern the period of WWI, the Revolution, and the Civil War. Of other materials relating to the Imperial epoch, mention may be made of the lists of members of the Regiment since its formation compiled by some regimental historian; biographical sketches of many officers; field orders, topographical maps, certificates awarding medals, etc. The Association of former officers generated much material: accounts, minutes, souvenirs of commemorative dinners, etc. A rich store of photographs forms part of the collection. These include both individual and group portraits of members of the Regiment and of the Imperial family. Especially fine photos of the last 2 tsars, their families, and various urban landscapes are found in the album "Photographies du comte Nostitz.".

Vakar, Sergeĭ Vasilʹevich, 1894-1981

Manuscripts and memoirs of Vakar. The topics with which Vakar chiefly deals include: his military education and service; the role of the cavalry in the Imperial Army; emigre military groups in Europe; the Russian Defense Corps (Russkiĭ Okhrannyĭ Korpus) in Yugoslavia during World War II; and Russian emigre life in Argentina after the war. In addition to the manuscripts and memoirs, there are several posters and maps drawn by Vakar on military topics.

Kamenskiĭ, Vladimir A., 1891-1974

Manuscript and typescript memoirs (in all 600 p.) that deal chiefly with Kamenskiĭ's military education, the imperial court, his service during World War I, his service as General Petr Wrangel's diplomatic courier in 1921-24, and the emigration in France. Part of the manuscripts on World War I consists of copies of his diary. Some hand-drawn maps, photographs, and six copies of the bulletin of the organization of veterans of the Jaeger Regiment complete the collection.
