Correspondence, manuscripts, documents and printed materials documenting the career of Aaron Frankel. The correspondence is by Lynn Fontanne, Greer Garson, Lorne Greene, Alfred Lunt, Frederick Marshall, Robert Penn Warren and others. The manuscripts include l4 drafts of Frankel's "Writing the Broadway Musical" as well as manuscripts by Robert Penn Warren and Myron Galewski for two plays"Willie Stark: His Rise and Fall" and "Brother to Dragons". One of the documents is a collaboration agreement signed by Warren and Frankel. The printed materials include galleys of "Writing the Broadway Musical" and items relating to Frankel's productions of Warren's plays.

Correspondence including twenty letters from Helen Keller and her companion Polly Thomson, letters from Pauline Hemingway and her son Patrick M. There are also several books by and about Helen Keller and by Ernest Hemingway, some of which are first editions and some inscribed by the author.

The papers comprise the correspondence of Agnes Kun (1915-1990), translator, and Antal Hidas (1899-1980), Hungarian poet, with prominent Russian poets and writers; Antal Hidas's memoirs; and manuscripts of translations from Hungarian and original poetry by famous Russian authors.

The Alumni Class Records contains materials pertaining to the alumni from the Classes of 1842 to 1963, from Columbia College and the School of Mines, later the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. The correspondence includes letters from a great variety of people, such as Betty Friedan, Jonas Salk, Newt Gingrich, Ed Koch, and many other politicians and celebrities. There are research files for virtually every project that Toffler was involved with, including his books "Future Shock" and "The Third Wave." The press clippings files are extensive and range from research topics to reviews, and cover countries from Australia to Switzerland. Lecture files also from Toffler's television/video production compnay, Triwave Productions, Inc., which include scripts, contracts, and materials relating to all stages of production. The many manuscripts, proofs, and galleys are in various stages of revision and include Toffler's extensive corrections and notes.

Papers contain unpublished and unknown correspondence from A.P. Giannini to Secretary of the Treasury, John W. Snyder. A.P. Giannini was known as "the father of modern consumer banking" and was founder and president of Bank of America. The letters demonstrate his influence on the financial policies of the US government. The materials in the collection date from 1943-1955.

Correspondence, documents and printed materials of the family of Lewis Nostrand Anderson, Jr., 1904- (Columbia A.B. 1926). Included are letters to his grandfather, Samuel Cowdrey Anderson from Charles Francis Adams and Carl Schurz as well as printed material concerning the National Reform League in 1876 and letters to Samuel's father, Peter, from Louis Kossuth, and Peter's military appointment in 1828 signed by Governor DeWitt Clinton.

A small group of materials documenting the history of Letchworth Village, an institutional care facility for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions which operated in Thiells, New York from 1911 until 1996. The materials were collected by the writer Annette Riley Fry in the 1970s, while conducting research for a possible article on Letchworth Village.

The material in this collection consists primarily of correspondence, writings, lectures and articles by and about Benjamin Graham dating between the 1930s and 1976. It also contains materials about Benjamin Graham's work and influence which were created after his death in 1976. This more modern material was primarily created by or collected by his friend and mentee, Warren Buffett. One can also find many articles and a correspondence file from Jason Zweig, a financial journalist who writes The Intelligent Investor column every weekend for The Wall Street Journal. Jason Zweig is also the editor of the revised edition of Benjamin Graham's The Intelligent Investor.

The Benjamin Waugh papers mainly consist of photographs that documented the National Revolution Army's Northern Expedition in various northern cities in China dating from 1927 to 1928. Other materials include letters, a grocery company's income, and photographic postcards depicting sceneries in China.

The Bob Fass Recordings and Papers contains materials created by Bob Fass, host of the late-night program Radio Unnameable on New York City's WBAI radio station. The collection primarily consists of audio recordings of Radio Unnameable and other radio programs hosted by Bob Fass between 1963 and 2011. A small number of video recordings, photographs, correspondence, printed ephemera, and motion picture films are also included in the collection.

Correspondence, memos, minutes, annual reports, membership and mailing lists, publicity files, and printed materials relating to the Book Industry Study Group (BISG) and two of its subdivisions, the Serials Industry Systems Advisory Committee (SISAC), and the Book Industry Systems Advisory Committee (BISAC). Correspondence includes letters to and from a wide variety of prominent members of the publishing industry, and relates to all aspects of the BISG, SISAC, and BISAC, including finance. Memos concern all aspects of BISG's operations, and are both intra and interdivisional. Minutes are of meetings of SISAC, BISAC, the BISG, and the Board of Directors, and include attendence records and reports by various members. The membership and mailing lists illustrate the diversity of the BISG and emphasize its importance in the publishing industry. Publicity files include examples of press releases and mailings to BISG members. The printed material includes copies of Consumer research reports prepared by the BISG and copies of its three publications, Book Industry Trends, Trends Update, and the BISG Bulletin

A nearly complete run of 106 issues of Bound & Gagged magazine, plus 125 original drawings, and several portfolios of artwork and miscellaneous binders. In addition there are ca. 10 record storage boxes of supporting correspondence and archives. It is likely that this collections will include videos and DVDs.

The Bradley Commission on History in Schools Records contain the commission's administrative records and materials related to the process of creating and sharing guidelines for elementary and secondary school history education in the United States from 1982-1992. Many of these materials were created by Elaine Wrisley Reed, administrative director, Kenneth Jackson, chair, and the sixteen members of the commission. They include files related to the planning, staffing, and funding of the commission as well as correspondence and meeting minutes. The papers also contain surveys the commission drafted and distributed to teachers to collect data for the project. Teachers were surveyed on the history requirements at their school, the obstacles they faced, and recommendations to improve their field. The results of those surveys and the commission's conclusions are documented with drafts and final versions of two publications, as well as videos and other materials from two associated conferences.

Brenda Miller Cooper was an American operatic soprano who was a regular performer at New York City Opera from 1947 to the early 1960s. The materials in this collection were compiled by Brenda Miller Cooper during the premiere of Douglas Moore's Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, Giants in the Earth, in 1951 at Columbia University, in which she created the role of Beret.

This collection includes floor plans, maps, correspondence, reports and press clippings pertaining to Columbia University campuses and buildings. The bulk of the collection is divided by building name; general maps, reports and correspondence relating to the Morningside Heights campus are filed separately.

Dr. Carol H. Meyer taught clinical and advanced social work practice in the School of Social Work (1962-1995). The papers consist primarily of her teaching files, but also include correspondence, papers, speeches, and material related to her research and projects.

Letters donated from the collection of Nina Tannenbaum, and Tiye, Robin, and Duccio Castelli in honor of Professor Peter Pazzaglini, the Columbia Core, and to all of the great teachers who have inspired, illuminated, and enriched their lives. Both letters reflect the efforts of a young writer to be connected to and absorb the advice of eminent Italian writers of his and his family's cultural milieu. One letter from Italo Calvino to Duccio Castelli analyzing the young writer's story, comparing his style to contemporary American writers, such as Raymond Chandler and Damon Runyon, as well as suggesting techniques for incorporating the life and language of Milan into his stories. The second document reflects the connections between Duccio Castelli's mother, a book-seller and figure in the early and mid-century Italian writing and publishing scene, and Salvatore Quasimodo, Nobel Laureate 1959, with whom she shared her son's poetry. The collection contains both original documents as well as Duccio Castelli's translations into English and his account of how he wrote to Italo Calvino and received advice from the renowned writer.

The Chen Lifu papers (陳立夫檔案) mainly document his involvement in Chinese politics during the Republican era, dating from 1926 to 1989, with the bulk dates from 1926 to 1951. The papers consist of correspondence, portrait, meeting documents, reports, plans, speeches, writings, memoir, and printed materials. The papers focus on Chen Lifu's political career as the Head of the Central Bureau of Investigation and Statistics and the Minister of Education, as well as his general involvement in politics dating from 1926 to 1949.

The Chinese oral history project collection (中國口述歷史項目檔案) provides a wealth of information on the development of the project and its interviews with eminent Chinese political figures abroad in the United States and Hong Kong from 1958 to 1980s. The highlights of the collection consist of the administrative subject files, correspondence, interview photographs and reports, transcript drafts, collected autobiographies and manuscripts, audio recordings, and card files of names mentioned in the transcripts.

The Chiu Chung-wei correspondence consists of outgoing and incoming letters and telegrams from and to Chiu when he was the Secretary of the President serving under the Acting President, Li Zongren, from 1949 to 1950. Other materials also include newspaper clippings and memoranda.

The Collection on Dr. J. Heng Liu consists of primary and secondary source materials on his medical education abroad and his career at the PUMC as well as other materials relating to medical education in China before and during the Sino-Japanese War, mostly dating from 1922 to 1946. Materials include the oral history interview transcript conducted by the Chinese oral history project, incoming and outgoing correspondence of Dr. Liu, reports on the political situation in China, as well as other articles and publications about the PUMC, western medicine, and medical education in China.

The collection contains correspondence, ephemera, and meeting minutes. The collection is not a comprehensive record of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The surviving files of official correspondence, reports, documents, and printed materials of King's College from 1750 to 1784 and Columbia College from 1785 to 1890, as well as Columbia University up to 1964. The King's College era materials include grants, deeds, indentures, lists of governors, leases, accounts, etc. The Columbia College era papers commence with documentation regarding the attempts to revive the college at the end of the American Revolution. In the later period these papers primarily supplement and document the minutes of the meetings of the Board of Governors and the Board of Trustees. Much material was destroyed and scattered in the late 19th century leaving this collection quite incomplete.

The Dalkey Archive Press publishes Review of Contemporary Fiction, Context, and a wide range of contemporary fiction by both American and foreign writers. While the records consist primarily of editorial and production files, they also include correspondence, financial reports, strategic plans, and printed materials such as the Press' books, brochures, catalogs, and literary journals. Digital materials are currently being processed and are not yet available to researchers.

The cataloged correspondence includes two letters while he was Governor, one from John Peter Van Ness, New York Congressman, and Tompkin's letter to Rev. Peter I. Van Pelt on the creation of a college on Staten Island. The manuscripts consist of Tompkin's Columbia College valedictory address, biographical and genealogical items. There are 5 portraits of Tompkins and his wife as well as cabinet photographs of the Governor's mansion in Albany

The Dan Talbot Papers document the business operation of the New Yorker Films, an independent film acquisition and distribution company, dating from 1960s to 2008, as well as movie theaters in the Upper West Side Manhattan which he operated, dating from 1960 to 2007. It is of particular relevance to New Yorkers as the Talbots operated the New Yorker Theater, Cinema Studio, Metro, and Lincoln Plaza Cinemas, on the Upper West Side, as popular venues to view independent and foreign films.

The collection documents the career and personal life of Trinidadian-born Black British activist and journalist Darcus Howe (1943-2017). Howe was best known as a defendant in the 1971 Mangrove Nine trial, a founding member of the Race Today Collective and editor of its journal, Race Today, and a producer of television series and documentary films for the British television station Channel 4. There is also material from the later life of Howe's cousin, the prominent intellectual, postcolonial writer, and activist C. L. R. James (1901-1989).

The papers consist primarily of records created or maintained during David A. Paterson's tenure as Lieutenant Governor and Governor of New York. The papers include approval and veto messages, budget materials, certificates, correspondence, litigation records, messages of necessity, photographs, press releases, proclamations, program bills, resolutions, schedules, speeches, video recordings, and visitors' logs.

The David Flaherty papers document the personal and professional life of Flaherty, dating from 1913 to 1965. The papers consist of David Flaherty's personal and family correspondence, scripts, accounts, notes, manuscripts, etc. of the films which he directed. The materials also include papers related to the documentary shorts he produced for the Jack Frost Sugar Company in the 1940s and the "Green Mountain Land" for the Vermont Development Association in 1950, along with others films he produced and proposed in the 1950s.

The David Lloyd collection on Lao She consists of records relating to the publications and translations of Lao She's work during and after his stay in New York, dating from 1946 to 1957. Materials in the collection include correspondence, accounts, manuscripts, and a portrait of Lao She.

Established in 1965 by Columbia University, the Double Discovery Center (DDC) provides educational programs and services to low income and first generation college-bound junior high and high school students in New York City. The DDC is one of the oldest Upward Bound programs in the United States. The collection contains the records of the DDC from 1965 to 2005, including student files and materials documenting the DDC's primary programs, Upward Bound and Talent Search.

Earl I. Sponable was a chemist, Chief Engineer and Director of Research for Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation and its subsidiaries, 1926-1962. He was active in many aspects of research and development in broadcast and movie media, particularly in early sound film.

Edmund Stevens (1910-1992) was an American journalist who worked as a foreign correspondent in the Soviet Union from the 1930s until the early 1990s. He won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting in 1950. The papers include articles, book materials, correspondence, travel notes, reporter notebooks, and photographs.

The Edwin W. Patterson Papers collects the papers of Patterson related specifically to the revision of the New York Insurance Law 1939 while he worked as Deputy Superintendent of the Insurance Department of New York State. Patterson was an expert in insurance law and authored both "The Insurance Commissioner in the United States" 1927) and "Essentials of Insurance Law" (1935). The collection contains the work of the New York Insurance Department, in particular the Committee of Insurance Law Reform. The documents are in the form of minutes, correspondence, memoranda, and drafts of bills proposals with annotations and marginalia. The collection also holds the transcript of hearings held by the New York State Legislature on Insurance reform in the 1930s.

Letters to van Delden about the formation of the Committee on Award of the Marconi Memorial Medal. The medal was to have been awarded annually for contributions to radio, and David Sarnoff had been chosen as the first recipient.

Elmer Berger and Roselle Tekiner Papers contain correspondence, documents, writings, articles and other printed material related to their activities and publications about the national identity in Israel, Israeli law, racism and antisemitism.

This collection contains the correspondence, typescripts, production files, and financial records of the Encyclopedia of Philosophy (1967). The correspondence is between the editorial staff and the entry authors. The Entries series contains typescript drafts (with holograph corrections) of the articles included in the encyclopedia. Production files contain lists of the members of the Editorial Board, indexes, and table of contents of the encyclopedia. Financial records include ledgers of monthly expences (1962-1964) and monthly production progress reports. One box of closed/restricted files is at the end of the collection. English author and playwright, Enid Bagnold developed a close personal and professional relationship with fellow English writer Robin Maugham. This collection consists of her letters to him, primarily in the year 1979.

Erica Jong (b. 1942) is an American writer and teacher whose works are often associated with sexuality and feminism. The Erica Jong Papers consist of drafts of Jong's works of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. The collection also includes project and research files, correspondence, personal memorabilia, photographs, audio-visual materials and printed matter.

Eric R. Kandel is a neuroscientist and the recipient of the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for "discoveries concerning signal transduction in the nervous system." The papers include awards files, clippings, correspondence, grant files, lectures, photographs, publications, reprints, syllabi, videotapes, and dissertations written by Kandel's students.

The Ernest Hunter Wright Collection contains the unpublished manuscripts, and correspondence of Ernest Hunter Wright, a professor of English beginning in 1910 and the head of the Department of English from 1933 to 1947, the collection also contains his wife Mary Heritage Wright's diaries and manuscripts.

Personal, administrative, political, and investigative files of Nickerson. The papers deal almost entirely with his eight years as County Executive, and consist of correspondence, memoranda, manuscripts of speeches, notes, press releases, photographs, and clippings. Among the major correspondents are James A. Farley, Hubert H. Humphrey, Robert F. Kennedy, Edward I. Koch, and Percy E. Sutton. The Investigation Files, which amount to nearly half the collection, document investigation into corruption and mismanagement in numerous Long Island businesses and governmental departments. These investigations, instigated and overseen by Nickerson, were carried out largely by the Commissioner of Accounts, Milton Lipson, and later by Samuel Greason, the first governmental ombudsman in the United States. These files consist primarily of memoranda, transcripts of hearings, payroll and financial accounts, notes, and tape recordings.

Manuscripts and correspondence. The typescript of THE PISAN CANTOS contains almost all of the Cantos 74-80, and 84, and part of 83. There is a carbon of the corrected version of parts of Cantos 74, 76-77, and 79-80. Included are galley proofs of Cantos 74-84 and galley and page proofs of Canto 77, the latter for the "Rocky Mountain Review." The collection contains two typescripts for CANTOS ET POEMES CHOISIS. One typescript bears corrections and notations by Pound, the other by the translator René Laubiès. Included is correspondence with Benjamin De Casseres, Daniel Dodson, Peter Loving, Dudley Fitts, Ronald Duncan, Orrick Johns, and a Mr. Thring.

The Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program (IFP) offered fellowships for post-graduate study to leaders from marginalized communities in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Russia from 2001-2013. The majority of the correspondence covers his positions as President of the University of Mississippi, 1856-1861, and President of Columbia College, 1864-1889.

Fritz A. Kuttner (1903-1991) was a German Jewish refugee in Shanghai in the 1940s, later immigrating to the United States in 1949. During his time in Shaghai, Kuttner became interested in Chinese music, and ultimately published many articles and a book, The Archeology of Music in Ancient China, on the subject. The papers include correspondence, manuscripts, drafts, and notes, primarily dating from his time in the United States.

The correspondence relates specifically to the third edition. The manuscripts are typed and holograph inserts for the third edition and possibly for the second edition as well. Among the manuscripts are twenty-two notebooks containing holograph notes and drafts of chapters. The printed material consists of one copy of THE STREAM OF HISTORY, 1934 edition.
