William Wheeler (1780-1833) seems to have been one of the first of the Wheeler family in Albany County, New York. Born in Oyster Bay, New York, he became a wheelwright and farmer in Westerlo. This collection contains genealogies, correspondence, and other family-related materials.

The collection contains photographs, programs, correspondence, and materials related to the life of Nina Saunders Derby.

Joel W. Burdick accepted a position as a clerk with the D & H (Delaware and Hudson) Railroad Company in 1879, and moved with his wife to Albany, New York. He eventually rose to the position of passenger agent, and he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada. This collection contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, and photographs.

The collection contains minutes from organization meetings, newspaper clippings, show announcements, call for art posters, prints, photographs, both business related and personal correspondence including thank you notes and holiday greeting cards, newsletters from the organization, archive draft ideas, ledgers, ballots, material regarding the annual “Art on Lark” and “1st Friday” festivals, and fundraiser advertisements in various forms including posters and post cards. Also included are various business documents in relation to the Albany Institute including Deed of Gift paperwork, Bylaws, and Application for Tax Exemption.

Marian I. Hughes was born and raised in Albany, New York. She is the sister of K. Leroy Irvis, the 130th Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, and author of This Land of Fire. Although born in Albany, her life has been spent on an international stage, where she has been a prominent supporter of black studies and improved race relations.

The bulk of the papers are comprised of Lou Budd’s collection of Mark Twain caricatures, interviews and reviews. Correspondence and materials related to his tenure as trustee at the Mark Twain Memorial for the years 1992-1999 are the extent of materials in the collection related to Budd’s professional life. The collection contains the manuscript and research for one scholarly article, Seeing Double Can be Twice as Clear: Mark Twain’s Impersonators.

This collection is comprised of facsimiles of portions of the Cyril Clemens Collection owned by the Mark Twain House and Museum, Hartford, Connecticut. The collection contains correspondence between Mark Twain and family, friends and contemporaries. The collection also contains the correspondence of Cyril Clemens, primarily in regard to his interest in Mark Twain and his position as founder and president of the International Mark Twain Society and editor of the Mark Twain Quarterly/Mark Twain Journal.

This collection covers Alice Bartlett’s time at Fredonia and her involvement with the Theater Arts Program. It covers various productions that she oversaw and her interest in speech and speech therapy.

Daniel Evan Button (1917-2009) was a Republican politician elected as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. After his landslide win for the 1966 election, Button once again ran and was re-elected to his seat on the House of Representatives as a representative of New York. He ran for a third term in 1970, but was ultimately defeated. This collection contains newspaper articles, letters, speeches, documents, photographs, and published works in his memory.
