Contains items from the Borthwick, Smith, and Strong Families including correspondence, diaries, family histories, financial papers, land records, a school notebook, and a manuscript cookbook. Additional material includes two woman's diaries, land records, a history of the Bushnell Family, and Hattie E. Kurtz's school notebook. Of unusual interest is a black & white photograph of Abraham Lincoln taken by Matthew Brady in Washington, DC in 1864.

Collection of oral history interviews and accompanying documents, fieldnotes, slides and photographs assembled by folklorist Tom Carroll for his “Hunting Traditions in the Adirondacks” project in 1997. Carroll’s goal was to “gain insights into the history and significance of hunting in the region, and to connecting hunting activity to other pressing concerns of Adirondack residents” and in addition to chronicling hunting and hunting camps, his reports detail a complicated relationship between native Adirondackers, the land and private/state interests in the region.

The collection aims to “chronicle and preserve living memories of continuity and change, work and culture in Adirondack forests, with special emphasis on the lives and experiences of women.”
