The collection is very extensive, containing everything from report cards at the age of twelve to surveys of Rochester city schools in the 1960's to materials related to the 2009 founding and ongoing programs of the Dr. Walter Cooper Academy. Processing of this collection is now in progress. Due to high interest in the papers, the Rare Books and Special Collections Department is releasing this register in successive parts to facilitate public access to the collection as portions are organized and described. As processing continues, there will be periodic additions to the register until the collection is fully processed. The materials which are currently available include information on Dr. Cooper's personal history, the 1964 Rochester Race Riots, the school integration/urban-suburban transfer plan in Rochester, and the Small Business Administration. The types of materials in the collection include Dr. Cooper's writings, newspaper clippings, various organizations meeting minutes and newsletters, photographs, and letters.

Serge Prokofiev (1891–1953) was a Russian and Soviet composer, pianist and conductor, and seminal figure in the history of twentieth-century music. The Serge Prokofiev Archive (SPA) contains 58 original music manuscripts and over 10,000 letters and documents primarily from 1918-1936, the years Prokofiev spent in the West. The SPA also includes an expansive collection of music manuscript copies, published scores, concert programs, scholarly books and articles, photographs, and audio and video material, making it the premier research collection for studying Prokofiev's life, work and legacy.

Also included in the collection are issues of "Goldmine" magazine, where Rick served as an editor and feature writer, as well as some audio and video tapes containing interviews and performances.

The collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, clippings, books and periodicals. There are two letters from Aleksandr Glazunov and one each from Aleksandr Grechaninov and Nikolaĭ Metner. The manuscripts deal with both cultural affairs and the Russian Revolution. Among the cultural topics are essays on music, Isadora Duncan, Maksim Gorḱiĭ and literary affairs. There are articles about general aspects of the Revolution and about such individuals as Lenin, Stalin, Chicherin, Dzerzhinskiĭ and Kamenev. Many of the articles are memoiristic in nature, particularly those about life in Moscow and in the provinces during the Revolution, Dzerzhinskiĭ and Kamenev. There are clippings of articles written by Sabaneev and a number of books and periodicals either written by Sabaneev or containing articles by him.

The collection includes correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files, and printed materials. Seryshev carried on a voluminous correspondence in Esperanto, as well as Russian and English, with individuals in many countries. This material mostly dates from the late 1920s. Photographs of Seryshev's correspondents have been left with the letters to which these photos were attached. The main manuscript is a lengthy autobiography by Father Seryshev, illustrated with photos, postcards, and documents, called "V Zemnom plane moego vechnogo bytii︠a︡", describing in five volumes and appendices his life and travels in pre-revolutionary Siberia, in Japan (1919-1922), in China (1922-1925), and in Australia, where he settled after 1926. An earlier manuscript entitled "Peshkom po i︠a︡ponskim shkolam", also covers the Japanese period in Seryshev's life. Among materials relating to Seryshev's activities as a promoter of Esperanto, mention should be made of his manuscript "Esperanto v SSSR i ee satelitakh", to which much primary material is adjoined. Printed material includes "Siberio" (1914), a collection of articles on Siberia, translated into Esperanto and edited by Seryshev; various Russian-language periodicals brought out by Father Seryshev in Australia; and Esperanto textbooks in Russian, Polish, and Lithuanian.

Papers include correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject files, and printed materials. The extensive correspondence relates to Mogilat's personal and professional activities and includes letters from many of her students and colleagues. Correspondents include Gleb Struve, Alexandra Tolstoy and Boris Unbegaun. Of special interest are letters by her first husband Baron von Taube, written from the front during World War I, and correspondence with various Russian acqaintances about the Soviet Union in the 1920s and 1930s in which they describe life in a communal apartment, and plans to rescue friends who have been arrested. Subject files concern Columbia's Russkiĭ Kruzhok and the Avtonomoff method of teaching Russian to Americans. There are letters, photographs, concert programs and music of Russian emigre composer and pianist Ariadna Mikeshina. Manuscripts are by various persons; most are by John Paul Mihaly, who had been Mogilat's student. There is also a manuscript of translations by Clarence Manning, "Four Poems by Blok." Documents and photographs concern Mogilat and her family, both before and after emigration. Printed materials consist mostly of off-prints of articles by Clarence Manning and others, primarily on literary topics. There are also books, mimeographed materials, periodicals, and clippings.

Within each division, subsidiary bodies are typically separated into subject and country files.

These records document the activities of the Burroughs Audubon Nature Club of Rochester, the oldest conservation group in the area. Included are booklets, correspondence, manuscripts, newsletters, and documents related to Rochester-area native flora and fauna. Also included are a variety of glass lantern slides and 35mm slides observing various wild plants, birds, and insects in varying stages of their life cycles. The lantern slides almost exclusively focus on different local bird species and their nests. Within the lantern slides are what seems to be different series of slides mixed in with one another. The previous original series order and list are currently unavailable and the slides have been put together in numerical order by slide.

The first installment of the CCEIA archival materials came to the RBML in 1974, with numerous additions over the years. The Gilbert and Lila Silverman Fluxus Collection Archives, 1900-2013 (bulk dates: 1952-1988)

These papers comprise a portion of the Gilbert and Lila Silverman Fluxus Collection. (The rest of the collection is housed with the Department of Prints and Illustrated Books and the Museum's Library). The Silverman Collection was built and organized by scholar Jon Hendricks starting c. 1977, working with collectors Gilbert and Lila Silverman. It grew into one of the world's largest collections of artwork, documentation, and published materials related to Fluxus, an international network of artists based primarily in New York in the 1960s and '70s, and particularly to its founder, George Maciunas (1931-1978). These papers contain documentation, artifacts, and artworks gathered by Hendricks for the Collection, as well as the administrative records produced in the process. The collected records include correspondence between artists, ephemera, documentation of Fluxus plans and events, as well as much material from the studio/estate of George Maciunas. The created records include correspondence, exhibition loan files, publication files, and other administrative documents.

The project was spearheaded by Columbia University's Yiddish department and the primary researchers involved in the project were Uriel Weinreich, Marvin (Mikhl) Herzog, Mordkhe Schaechter, Vera Baviskar, Robert Neumann, and Ulrike Kiefer. The materials include administrative records, fieldwork and research notes, materials relating to the publication of the second and third volume of the Atlas, as well as other research materials of Uriel Weinreich, and materials related to the publication of The Field of Yiddish. The kari edwards papers comprises approximately 4.6 gigabytes of digital content (approximately 3300 files) and 9.88 linear feet of paper materials and art objects. The bulk of the digital files can be described as born digital; content originating in a computer environment. These files consist of drafts of edwards' published works of poetry, drafts of unpublished works, images of cover art for works, reviews of edwards' poetry, syllabi and letters to publishers. The collection also contains a significant number of digital images, including born digital images and other images that are digital surrogates of print photographs. The bulk of the digital images were taken during travel to various parts of India including Auroville, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mamallapuram, and Varanasi between 2004 and 2006. The physical records include notebooks, manuscripts, ephemera, clippings, official documents, unique publications, photographs, artworks on paper and canvas.

The incomplete records of the New York State Library School, Albany, 1890-1911. Included are diploma lists, grade sheets, examination questions, examination questions with corresponding set of students' answers, pass cards, senior certificate lists, an admissions application, entrance examinations, curriculum materials, and some documents for the class of 1890. Also, records of the New York State Library School Association, Incorporated. In addition to letters from such prominent American librarians as Katharine L. Sharp, Joseph Wheeler, Ralph Munn, and James I. Wyer, there are minutes, reports, memoranda, and printed documents, including the Association's constitution. There is a scrapbook of blanks and forms used in the executive departments of U.S. libraries in 1893, mounted by the N.Y. State Library School for the American Library Association World's Columbian Exposition Comparative Library Exhibit (Chicago, 1893). Also, files of the school consisting of course materials, exams, publications of the School, student records, admission files, class lists and rankings, and some related correspondence.

The Ian and Betty Ballantine Books and Business Records include the Ballantines' materials related to Penguin Books USA, Bantam Books, Ballantine Books, and Peacock Books. Administrative documents cover the management of these presses as well as the editorial, sales, inventorying, and advertising processes. In addition, the collection contains the bulk of the editorial libraries of Penguin Books USA, Bantam Books, and Ballantine Books.

The collection consists of the editorial and production archives of Random House, Inc. from its founding in 1925 to the 1990s. The correspondence and editorial files include many of the prominent novelists and short story writers from 20th-century American and European literature: Saul Bellow; Erskine Caldwell; Truman Capote; William Faulkner; Sinclair Lewis; André Malraux; Gertrude Stein and Thornton Wilder. Among the poets there are files for W. H. Auden; Allen Ginsberg; Robinson Jeffers; Robert Lowell; and Stephen Spender. In the area of theater there are files for Maxwell Anderson; Moss Hart; Lillian Hellman; Eugene O'Neill; and Tennessee Williams. Random House transacted business with many fine presses and noted typographers and the archives contain files for Nonesuch Press, Grabhorn Press and Golden Cockerel Press, as wll as for Bruce Rogers, Valenti Angelo, and Edwin, Jane, and Robert Grabhorn.

The John Larish Papers are comprised of one series: Research Papers. This series includes the research materials Larish used in writing his book, Out of Focus. Materials include documents recording the history of the Eastman Kodak Company, the surrounding field of electronic photography, and associated technologies. The first box, Kodak Product History, provides some information about the Rochester area and the issues surrounding the photographic industry as the technology of digital photography developed. The bulk of the collection is arranged by date, beginning in 1970. These folders contain news and industry publications that continue through 2012. Beginning in Box 9, there are contextual materials on the structure and leadership of Kodak and its competitors, as well as notes from interviews Larish conducted with key figures in Kodak, and elsewhere in the industry. Box 10 includes a small group of photographs and Larish's notes from a trip to Japan to meet with colleagues, as well as financial reports tracking Kodak's standing in the industry from 2004 to 2008. The final box in the collection includes VHS, audio cassettes, CDs and DVDs with interview recordings.

Collection is comprised of files pertaining to the preparation, production, and promotion of the South Africa UPDATE Series. The Ford Foundation initiated the UPDATE Series project in order to update the South Africa: Time Running Out report (SATRO) that was published in 1981 by the Study Commission on U.S. Policy Towards Southern Africa. The series consists of five monographs. Each book focuses on a particular theme regarding political developments in South Africa during the 1980s. Subjects covered in the series include international relations between South Africa and the United States, politics in the region of Southern Africa, political activism of Black South Africans; reforms made to the Apartheid system, and the state of civil rights in South Africa.
