Scope and Content:

The collection contains broadsides, programs and news releases of the play as well as an autographed copy of the play.The play was recorded with author’s permission by Victoria Garlanda via iPhone 3s.

Biographical / Historical:

Playwright Joe DiPietro and actress Eva Dolan developed Gutmusik after viewing a historic marker on a Saratoga Springs (NY) City street corner. The play takes place around 1945 in the area of Saratoga Springs known as the "Gut" or the "Valley." The fictional work highlights the enduring spirit of the local Jewish community at a time when the whole world seemed to be coming apart.

The play reading was at Cafe Lena (Saratoga Springs, NY) on January 30, 2010. The cast: Carl Danna, Judy Wyle, Sarah Braveman, David Orr, Baily Kerr, Victor Cahn, Sky Vogel, and Eva Dolan.
