This collection includes photographs, ephemera, funeral home records, and articles related to the Joseph Madia and Eleanora Cariti Madia, Josephine Madia Bihary, and Joseph Bihary with materials related to their children David and Barbara. The time period ranges from 1886 through 1987.

Biographical / Historical:

Eleanora (Eleanor) Madia was born on September 8, 1886 in Catazaro, Italy to Vito and Clementine Cariti. She died a centenarian on August 15, 1987 in Geneva, NY. She is buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Vitaliano Cariti died October 30, 1945 at 95 years old, buried in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Josephine (b. 1913, d. 1995) and Clementine were two daughters of Joseph (b. 1876, d. 1946) and Eleanora Madia. Born in Hungary, Austria, Joseph Bihary (b. 1911, d. 1958) married Josephine in 1935 and worked at American Can Co. Josephine and her mother owned the Park Lane Dress Shop on Seneca St. Josephine was also a music teacher, performer, and composer. She headed the female group, The Star Dusters, performed at many events, and was in a mixed quartet, The Songmakers, who recorded an album.
