The collection contains the District Attorney's transcripts of the testimony before the Grand Jury, examination of trial jurors, and witness testimony, and depositions, appeals records, bills, two scrapbooks of clippings, and photographs submitted as evidence. Also, the defense attorney's witness papers, ms. notes, and two scrapbooks of clippings; Clermont Tennant's correspondence relating to Martha Clift; and the Wright family Bible in which Coo changed Harry Wright's birth date so her insurance payments, due to his death, would be higher.
- Biographical / Historical:
Eva Coo was tried for the murder of Harry Wright in 1934, was found guilty, and sentenced to death in the electric chair. She was executed on June 28, 1935, the last woman to be executed in New York State. The murder took place on Crumhorn Mountain, Maryland, Otsego County, NY, the trial in Cooperstown, Otsego County, NY. The District Attorney was Don Grant, defense attorney was James Byard, Jr., and Clermont Tennant was the court appointed lawyer for Martha Clift, Coo's accessory.
