The Books & Ideas Collection comprises 36 film reels of the television series. There are a total of 19 half-hour episodes; the collection holds multiple copies of most of the episodes.
- Biographical / Historical:
Books & Ideas was a television series produced by Syracuse University's Television and Radio Center in 1956 and distributed by National Educational Television, a precursor to PBS. The episodes were originally shot on kinescope in black and white.

- This collection was transferred from the media collection in the Syracuse University Libraries to the University Archives in 2017. Original provenance and source of acquisition unknown.
