The collection features print material, photographic collections and digital texts chronicling the history of Onondaga Community College from the 1960s to the present. The archives preserve the official records of the college's administrators and administrative offices, academic programs and courses of instruction, student life, publications and academic departments and committees that have historical value. The archives include several manuscript collections.
- Biographical / Historical:
Onondaga Community College was founded as a two-year State University of New York college for Onondaga County in 1961. The college occupied Midtown Plaza in downtown Syracuse from 1962-1973 and opened its current campus on Onondaga Hill in 1970. Onondaga Community College offers a range of areas for academic study, spanning liberal arts and sciences, medicine, and technical and applied fields. The campus is also home to an active and diverse community, complete with student organizations and athletic teams. The college serves as a community gathering place and has a tradition of supporting community and continuing education.
