The Emma T. Yates Collection is composed of materials related to the estate, finances, and land transactions of Emma T. Yates, including deeds, mortgages, bank statements, and correspondence from Yates’ son, William C. Yates and her lawyer, James W. Veeder. The collection also includes materials related to Augusta Veeder Yates (1848- 1931), sister-in-law of Emma T. Yates and widow of Chauncey Ormsby Yates.
- Biographical / Historical:
Emma Theodora Paty was born in 1850 in Honolulu to John and Mary Ann (Jefferson) Paty. She married Isaac I. Yates (1846-1912) in 1873. The couple had five children: Jennie Ormsby Yates, Emma Theodora Yates, William C. Yates, Isaac I. Yates, and John Henry Yates. Emma T. Yates died October 1, 1933 and is buried in Vale Cemetery.
